I agree, the rankings are rather irrelevant.

Who here really thinks that Greece are the 13th best team in the world?

England for example were the best team in qualifying, yet are below Argentina.... Who lost :
1-0 to Chile
6-1 to Bolivia
2-1 to Colombia
1-1 draws against Paraguay and Ecuador at home and 1-1 to Peru away
2-0 to Ecuador
and 1-0 to Paraguay

Compare that to England, topping their Group with 27 points, and 34 goals scored, and only 6 conceded.

Proof, the ratings are flawed.

and you don't give us any credit at all. We're ranked higher than both Ghana and Uruguay and were a bad call away from two wins and a draw rather than the reverse.

You're giving credit for the accomplishments of these other teams, but not giving any of ours any respect.

it seems to me that a few cant take the defeat, well put it this way......with brazil winning about half of the world cups,and germany and italy taking the lions share of the rest,the rest of us pick up the scraps.......so if america is to progress in this wonderful sport just realise that defeat is part of it...such is life,you have to make the most of the good moments,such as donovans goal against algeria

and as for england being obliterated by germany,we'll know tomorrow......but the way this world cups going anything could happen

We look to actually have a pretty winnable draw to the semis. Ghana first, and then the winner of South Korea and Uruguay. But we're most likely looking at Brazil or Spain in the semis if we make it there.

To be fair, the USA did pretty much how I expected in this World Cup, last 16, nothing to be ashamed of, they might not be a major nation and only keep qualifying every time because there is no competition in qualifying for them but the're not the pushovers they used to be.
Good to see an African nation in the QFs for the third time ever, especially on their home continent.
