I agree they should be able to providing it's done because they actually think theirs is better for what ever reason. To vote for ones self just for the sake of trying to win would be childish imo.

When I vote for a picture I vote with a clear conscience as to which one I think is the best. I won't say why I chose what I did in this case because the poll is still open but I will say that in the past I have voted for others and I may have again if I even entered this contest. There's a lot of things that capture my attention when I look at a shot and make me like it. There are also many things that make me tell myself I don't like it. Kids & pets usually isn't one of the likes.

I have also stated in different polls that I voted but I wasn't willing to reveal which one nor the reason I chose it. I did leave the door open and say that I would be willing to explain myself after the poll is closed and to that end nobody has ever taken me up on the offer. The offer stands for this contest if anyone cares.

Another reason why I won't say what I picked until after it's over is I don't want anyone to vote in that direction just because I did. I doubt that I have that influence, and truly hope not but you never know.

I have voted for my photo before, but it was b/c I actually liked it better than the other photos. I have different tastes than a lot of people. For instance, I get that there's a lot of skill involved in that droplet photo up there and, while I appreciate that, I'm not a fan of the photo. I'm more of a fan of scenes...so I voted for the one I liked most.
