Wookie.... I use Reynolds Oven Cooking Bags. No basting necessary. It does its own magic.

But yeah.... I'd baste it quite often if in a roaster pan. Just to be safe and prevent dryout or overbrowning.

i got a lot of ideas from the Food network that just kick ass...and it helps to have a mom in law who's done this for like ever....

I just put butter under the skin...

Jim bastes when he thinks of it... LOL but we have always has moist turkery's that way

I did the butter thing
and I've basted it about 2 times an hour so far
I may have to put some foil over it soon tho cuz it's browning nicely but still has several hours to cook
