You're fairly new, so I will forgive you for pointing that out.

This is how the story goes.

I am not very technical, but tried to do it myself. I got a pic on my computer, tried to do it as my avatar, sent the link to Tim about 3 months ago when I couldn't manage it, when he said he'd sort it for me.

Unfortunately, it hasn't happened as yet.

That's the story so far - in brief (bloody good for me to do it so brief too! lol).

I tried again tonight, but still haven't a clue what to do.

I went in 'edit avatar', clicked browse, clicked 'save changes' and then it said 'Invalid File'. So I am totally lost now.

Yes, I am desparate to have an avatar - I think I am the only one here, without one. I don't know how you all manage to know how to do it - dammned if I know!

i just search google for avatars, find one that i like that is under the 19kb. save image to my computer, go to change avatar and find the one i downloaded. but if you want a pic of yourself you might need to resave the file in a different format to make it small enough to work....

Do you save it in 'my Pics' or 'My documents or something then?

doesnt matter. jus as long as you know where it is and find it when you click browse in edit avatar. the big thing is making sure the avatar is under 19.5 KB. or else it wont take it
