Ohh, I love a good debate. Just reading this thread caused me to register. :D

Anyway, I'd have to agree with Mulder - I'm terribly saddened that Obama gets the house. The whole idea of redistribution of wealth sickens me.

Here's what I see happening as America moves towards a socialist society:
- More and more people sit on their rears watching television all day because government gives them welfare for whatever stupid reason they can come up with.
- More and more companies move overseas as any profits they would gain would be taxed too much to matter.
- Less and less technological and medical innovation happens because those who "make too much" are taxed so much that they hardly make more than "those who need money", so they have no inspiration to try anything new.
- Like Mulder said, fewer people go for higher education (for example, doctors) because it won't really mean anything in the real world as they get every last extra penny taxed out of them.
- The GDP in America continues to fall because of the lack of innovation and the increasing number of people sitting on their rears taking handouts from the government.
- The dollar becomes more and more worthless as GDP falls.
- The economy collapses and the government is reformed back to the original core of the constitution, what the founding fathers MEANT for America to be - a free, small government, capitalist nation.

A lot of people today look at the surface of a given problem, and try to find an immediate solution to fix the problem. They don't look at the consequences of a solution. They don't do their homework, and as soon as something sounds good (like giving money to the poor), they jump on it. They don't realize that giving money to the poor only rewards poorness. If we want people to better themselves, then we should be rewarding the rich!

People are selfish, and as much as everyone would like for a socialist society to work, it just doesn't. If people are getting the same amount of money regardless of whether they work or not, they aren't going to work! And if everyone gets the same amount of money, and nobody works, then everyone gets $0. I don't really understand why people do not understand the severe consequences of redistributing wealth...

Anyway, that's my rant for the day. We'll see what the next 4 years bring - and whether I'll have to move out of the country or not to start my new business! If I come up with a great idea, and work my rear off 80 hours a week for the next few years, then finally start building a large corporation and turning a $1M yearly profit, I don't want to see most of it go to the government and then given to those who sit on their rears watching TV and playing games all day - that is not a free and fair place to live.

Because they think that there is a pot of money that can be distributed evenly--they don't realize the only reason there is a big pot of money is because of capitalism. Liberals think the money stays the same no matter the system. They don't like some peope getting rich even if it leaves most people better off--they just can't stand the idea of someone being filthy rich even though the high tide floats all boats--its all a matter of class envy.

Thats for the elitists way of thinking Mulder... one where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Where a country such as yours believes they are above all others rather then trying to gain world peace world strength...its that mentality that brought your country down with Bush ...but thankfully with Obama it can only go up and get better,- so that selfish narrow minded stuff like what you just spewed can only become enlightened. A country only gets better by becoming one not by trying to say I am better than you and thats what the republicans did...they separated you from each other...THAT was your weakness.

Anybody see that they were calling it "Obamapalooza"??? Now THAT is scary. I will admit that Obama is a nice looking man and he's very charismatic...but since when do we treat future Presidents like rock stars instead of political figures???

Jesus man (no pun intended) but I can't believe how these media people are fawning over Obama like he's the second coming of Christ. I just don't get it--When Republicans get elected, I breath a sigh of relief more than anything, but I certainly have no delusions that anyone is going to be able to effect any significant change because the system of a federal government with significant control is doomed to failure (which is what the Framers attempted to avoid). To me its more that Republicans will interfere less rather than they'll do anything more, whereas a lot of these Moore-Ons think Obama is going to raise the dead or something. The gullibility is stupifying! :confused

It actually makes perfect sense if you have read Revelations:ninja

Remember that it took a Carter to bring us a Regan. If Obama is really that bad, then the pendulum wil swing hard in '12.

I'm hopful.

And it took Bush to get us Obama.....ugh. Its OK though, after four Obama years I think we'll get it back.

Well technically....We have no choice but to give him the benefit of the doubt.

One thing I can say, I think the lean in this election pointed to our beloved party becoming more centrist than normal.

That's my take, I think the country is tired of partisan politics, regardless of the media and ran to anything different just to get away from the "norm".

I just hope they are right

If they change over the 401k system like has been discussed I am gonna really be pissed off.

The media is gonna kiss this guys ass. So don't expect realistic reporting. and then any failings will be brought back to blaming it on the last 4 years.

count on it.

Uhh, there have been more Democrats convicted and indicted in the last eight years than Republicans. There is corruption in both parties.

Get real. There has been a parade of Republican related scandals starting when the Republicans took over Congress. I'm not saying there has never been a crooked Democrat, I'm saying the Republican's cornered the market on corruption.

I know if I was in the US, I'd feel a lot more safer now knowing that the world is behind you because of your new leader...its brought about a new way of looking at the states...its like you guys have finally come out of the dark ages and into equality with everyone.....From war mongers to possible peace advocates... America was meant to rule the world... but to do it wisely and graciously....Bush ruled the world like a dictator on crack...Obama I believe can make friends of us all. I sure hope so...euphoric ideal maybe, but its hope its change...its something better then what the world has had since Bush STOLE the seat.... I'm just once again glad to share the boarder with you guys...its like you locked the mental cases back up and the doctors are back in charge!:D:thumbup
