and the schools announce closings. The EMA gets in gear. We are expecting somewhere between 1/2" and 2 inches. That usually only happens 2 or 3 times a decade around here.

I don't remember everything shutting down as quickly for inclimate weather when I was a kid.

They shut down the schools more often here that they used to..same with govt offices.
Funny thing is the convenience stores are always open
