LOL, ours start back Monday.
You all probably break earlier than up here. I'm glad I graduated when I did. back at the beginning of the last decade our school adopted block sheduling. I dunno if I could sit 2-3 hours through a class.

thats shitty... kids need vacation. that whole shit with kids forgetting what they learned is bullshit. theres a difference between forgetting and not paying attention in the first place.

Why do kids need a vacation? That's not how the real world works. Besides, on year round, they get a 3 week vacation every 9 weeks which technically gives them this "vacation" you say they need. Kids do forget. There's a reason the first month of school every year is spent rehashing crap that was learned the previous year.

I agree my Niece and nephew go to a year round school, and they love it.

Maybe I'd agree with you if I didn't grow up having summers off. Let children be children. Next thing you know they'll abolish recess in elementary schools.

*shrug* I did both ways, and really, I liked the year round school better. Got a ton of time off for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all that, still got time off in the summer, plus three weeks for spring break. It's rough going to school for four months, having two weeks off, going to school for four months and then having 8 weeks off. It keeps kids refreshed, gives them enough time off without making them have to relearn a bunch of stuff at the beginning of the next school year.

To each their own, but really...year round school was better IMO. Block scheduling on the other hand....;) The only good thing about that was not having to go to school on Fridays.

I had summers off and would have agreed with you had I not had kids myself and saw the bennies of year round. The internet and tv has ruined kids as we knew it. Its a new generation and we must embrace change. Nothing stays the same forever. Besides, most high schools are not year round, at least where I'm at. So, when it really matters, the kids get the summers free to work and have fun. What 10 year old needs a whole summer off to play xbox non-stop? Its not like kids today go out and actually enjoy the outdoors.
