I am not going to go into a rant like the post I had prepared for the simple reason that you dip sticks would not care and not understand anyway :D

My point is simple.. Rules / laws are made for all people.. Usually there is a reason, good or well intentioned whether you agree with it or not.

If you think the Rule or Law was inappropriate it should be dealt with by the proper method and not by hooligan tactics..

No religion or race should affect the law in how it is applied. If it is a safety issue it should apply to all equally with no "discrimination" to anyone or be repealed.. Plain and simple..

That's a way to win people over...call them dipsticks and insinuate they're too stupid to understand you. *rolls eyes*

Seriously, if you have a valid point, you should've spent more time constructing a post about it...not doing so indicates that you're not very passionate about it and just wanted to bitch for the sake of bitching. Seriously...what is in your post to DEBATE???

Yes, the laws SHOULD apply to everyone except under valid circumstances (and, by this, I mean things like the Code here in Georgia that says public safety does not have to conform to regular traffic laws while acting in an official capacity as long as they use due regard). And yes, it DOES suck that certain people get away w/ shit b/c of who they are, who they know, etc. But life isn't fair...and this is yet another example.

Well most that have come to know me here will automatically know I was being sarcastic.. :)

The point of the debate was starting one.. :D

I guess we could use Laws on Campfires as an example..

We here in British Columbia ( just as in California ) have bad forest fires right now and having just went to a Park that had signs all over it stating, NO FIRES, BBQ with Briquettes or any other flammable substances near the trees plastered everywhere we were amazed that 3 stalls over people were actually burning wood in a campfire..

It seems they did not care as this was a "National Park" and for them to enjoy, so who gives a crap if other peoples house go up in flames from their sparks..:mad

The Camp Warden walked around and did nothing due to the Nature of "the group".. :eek

That said, most of the others there were responsible and followed the ban.. Seems some believe they are above the law and can get away with it..

Why are laws applicable to some and not others ?

Francis don't get me going............ :D

- We have bicycle helmet laws in this province but if you wear a turban instead you probably won't get a ticket.

- On a construction site a hardhat must be worn but if you wear a turban instead you probably won't get ejected from the site.

- If you're a cop talking on a cellphone while driving you won't get a ticket.

- If you're a cop and speeding ( not going on an emergency ) you won't get a ticket.

- If you're a cop and fail to use your signal lights you won't get a ticket.

what do you mean...due to "the nature of the group"?

Race? Were they intoxicated? Threatening?

I;d be super pissed off too...but I would have probably taken the law into my own hands and put their friggin fire out for them:mad

Well that was part of the problem.. Without being racist and omitting all the required emergency situations, why should others be beyond the law ?

The fact of the race of these people was more onwards of the Authorities that had issues and not the others. No intoxication had happened yet as it was very early in the day and not sure if any would happen latter after we left. The scary part was that most others in the park were extremely good and most respectful except that one group who refused to follow these strict park guidelines..

This is part of what I'm talking about when it comes to the Georgia Code. Well, first off, talking on a cellphone while driving isn't against the law here in Georgia...but if it was, public safety would be exempt due to the nature of their duty. There is information that cannot be put over the radio that must be put over a secure phone line. No lights doesn't always mean no emergency...it may be a "hey, he REALLY needs that backup but the Sergeant didn't say I could run lights and sirens...let me kick it up a notch." To the outside person it looks wrong...but I bet nobody would argue that a mother rushing her child w/ a broken arm to the hospital shouldn't get a ticket, either.

Are you kidding!?!?!? They actually do those over there!?!?!? Just random breath tests??? Here in the states you can't pull someone over w/o having PC (probable cause) first. Wow...that's insane...never heard of that.

I have a feeling I'm going to end up unsubscribing from this thread...I *never* venture into the Debate forum, LOL

Yep, we've had it for years. They set up on the side of the road..(hidden)..pull you over randomly and bag you. They can also breathalyse you if they've pulled you over for anything else.

I've been tested probably a dozen times over the years....once in my driveway:nod: (never positive)

I think the laws should be followed by everyone unless under very extreme circumstances. Like the Turban example, however there should be no legal recourse if say a brick falls on some guy's head, and it would have been prevented had he been wearing a hard hat. Tough shit basically, you chose not to.

They absolutely positively can stop people randomly. It's called check points or sobriety points. They are randomly set up and the only thing they have to announce to the public is what county they will have it in. It's a good way to catch a lot of drunk drivers.

If it is actual police work or a citizen in distress they are permitted to use the phone while driving even though they have secure radio frequencies. That makes sense to me.... sorta. Common sense tells me they could use a bit of gray matter and pull over to the side of the road or do what we have to do and get a hands free device. Ass ordinary citizens we are also allowed to use the cell while driving if we have to call 911 to report a drunk driver etc. That also makes sense to me but I'm sure when the cops are on the phone most of the time they are talking to their wives. Smiles and laughs are a dead give away.

I don't wear a turban :D and am willing to take the same " tough shit risk " but the law won't allow me that freedom. What makes 'em special?

As far as random stops for possible DUI's go, what's the matter with it? If you have nothing to hide then what's the problem? It's like I don't get why people here are bothered about random stop and search, if you have nothing to hide then go ahead with it. The Police will get a backlash if a guy murders someone with a knife that was never tracked, same with a person who runs somedown down while pissed.

That's all..

Heck when I had my car accident last year, that policeman made sure they drew at minimum 3 viles of blood out of me that withheld my insurance claim.. He was hoovering above me at the hospital like a vulture and didn't leave until they had taken blood..

Nothing if they search everyone going thru that stop at that time and everyone is treated fairly and equally..

But when they have a few cars pulled over and all the drunks blast past I have issues with it..

Again, you don't enforce things half ass..
