Guess it just comes down to personal taste. For instance, #9 was extremely popular yet it didn't interest me at all. I'm very picky about my black and white photos, though...it has to be something special to catch my eye.

Aye, it is all personal taste. Some rounds a picture entry does badly but the next round that same entrant's next picture does fantastic. I too was surprised at the zero votes for number 3.

I feel your pain. My photos typically do crappy in these competitions too. Mine only got one more vote than yours in this one.
