I feel I need to say something here.

I do not swear in my workplace, in front of my kids, in general discussion with people...in fact, very rarely at all.

In fact...if those of you now judging me as a guttermouth/unprofessional/bad parent etc (in this and another thread made) do a little search here...you'll see I've rarely done it here on the forum either.

and, If you check that other "F" thread....I dont have many posts in there ..and more than likely those on their high horse right now...have used the word heaps more than me.

Just a little FYI :)

Have a good one:thumbup

You rock..... I fucking love you.

Swearwords were first invented back in 1776 by two guys in a public house as they were then. Somewhere on the west coast of England. Basically what happened was they took it in turns to go up to females and say various words to them, if they got a slap/derogatory look then it was a swearword, if they got a smile, it was a term of affection. To this day I wish Mrs Florian Butterfield had smiled at the word Motherfucker.

That story isn't actually true but I wish it was.

:24::24: Brilliant!!

Nobody needs to know your fucking back story. If you don't like the language LEAVE!

You're absolutely correct, no one does need to know my "back story", however I responding to a question about how much of a sheltered life I lead. I sincerely don't think I have had a sheltered life, and was trying to give some reasons as to why.

I'll let you in on a secret that I found out a long time ago...

If you want to get ahead in life, chances are you will get further in your career if you can minimize your obscene language.

It may not matter to you at all, but at no time was I judging you personally when I posted my first comment on this thread.

Since coming here to this forum, I spent most of my limited time in the debate section of this forum. However, I couldn't help but notice from time to time how certain (what I'd consider) obscene words were being used in the TITLE of threads. After reading how minors seem to frequent this site, it did make me wonder.

Just by dumb timing I had to respond to yours.

I was curious as to what type of response I would get, and honestly, got what I thought I would for the most part.

At a certain time in my life, my language was absolutely filthy, however, I wasn't living at home. My father told me I can do whatever I want outside of his house, but he'd lay me on my butt if I ever used that type of language around my mother in HIS home (and he did one time so quick I didn't even know what happened when I was living under his roof). My father happened to be a career military man, and I can assure you, he knew how to curse with the best of them as well. As he said, there is a time and a place, but under our families roof isn't it. I happen to both love and respect my father, and it's wan't until years later until I finally had a family of my own until I fully realized his line of thinking.

I do happen to think that children do learn by example, and I'm fully aware of the fact that you can't hide them from life, but you can set the bar for them, and when they get older, hopefully they realize why. That has never been more apparent to me now that I'm a parent.

You can't begin to think you know someone from just a few posts. Joe IS opinionated and will tell you what he thinks. He and I do not always agree, but I have come to know what kind of man he really is over the years. He is anything but a troll.

Thanks for the comment J, I sincerely appreciate it.

Who me, a troll?:D

Like saying he's had more problems in life than anyone else, he's too good to post here often

I've NEVER said I had more problems in life than anyone else. Everyone has problems, that's a fact of life, the question IMO is what type of character do you have to overcome them? Generally speaking, I've found cursing to other people rarely helps:24:

I also NEVER said I was too good to post here often. Yesterday I was up at 0430, and had to be on a jobsite at the end of the day, which didn't put me home until late. Today I have to drive 45 minutes to pick up a loaner mower (mine in the shop longer than they thought), and have to mow about 13 acres around the house that has been growing since I was up in Vermont last week and get the mower back Monday afternoon, even though I have to leave the house at 0500 for a meeting in Pinehurst for 0700 on Monday. That's not including a couple of jobs I have to read about 100 pages of instructions on to ensure it's going to be done properly, as well as some operational procedures that I will have to type up and get out by Sunday night. Also have to juggle the family in there as well.

I'm sorry, but my time is limited, and I do wonder what my addiction is to feel to respond to something as trivial to this, but some will tell you, I'm hard headed:D

All I want to know is... who the fuck got to pick out what "swear" words were?!! How come "spoon" isn't a swear word? Or... or... bicycle. Why the fuck aren't they bad swear words? Huh?

:p

I'm guessing cursing is nothing but a form a self expression, and through cultural and social growth in said society, certain words become "swear" words that wouldn't be recognized by other cultures.

I could also curse in a couple foreign languages and you'd probably never know the difference.

My dear, other than sex, moaning will never get you far in life.

Oh it does, if you do it right.

But I had noticed in a couple of threads, you challenge people out of the blue. This is why, I said what I did. If I am being honest..having an opinion is healthy. Yours is your own opinion. I can't judge that and I won't.

I am just also voicing mine.

I'm guessing that would be a total waste of your precious time then. If you're gunna do something you might as well make sure it has an impact on the people it was intended for. ;) Other than that I don't have a fuck of a lot to say so I'll just mozie along.

If there's a 13 year old out there who's never heard the word fuck then I'm Paris Hilton.

Now if people were posting pictures of boobs and dicks all over the place on the open forum and minors were still allowed to roam freely then I could see the point. But all the X-rated stuff is locked away. If anyone really believes seeing the eff word written down is going to damage/offend a teenager then damn, have you never spent time with someone between the ages of 13 and 18? They probably know more curse words than the rest of us put together. Acting like they need to be sheltered from phrases like shitballs and fuckmonkey is being, and I mean this is kindest way possible, a little naive.

I've never been afraid to ask a question, particularly on the internet. May I ask what questions have I asked that you consider me "challenging" someone?

It was in a couple of threads around a week ago, I just popped in to read. I can't remember what threads. I just mentioned, that I have noticed it. Nothing was threatening in my opinion, I hope!
