Say a person had a beneficiary that died last year, but they never changed the beneficiary. Then the policy holder dies...and no beneficiary. It is held up in probate until someone goes to court to determine who should be executor. And of course that costs money.
I know no one wants to think about a will, but everyone needs one. My in laws do not have one..whenever I've brought it up they say everything will go to the kids...and they wont fight. Which there are only 2 kids, and they wont fight between each other....but they will have a heck of a time getting the house and money out of probate. In the meantime they will have to pay for a funeral.
