Fuck... I guess his family :surrender

ONONDAGA, N.Y. — Police say a motorcyclist participating in a protest ride against helmet laws in upstate New York died after he flipped over the bike's handlebars and hit his head on the pavement.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon in the town of Onondaga, in central New York near Syracuse.
State troopers tell The Post-Standard of Syracuse that 55-year-old Philip A. Contos of Parish, N.Y., was driving a 1983 Harley Davidson with a group of bikers who were protesting helmet laws by not wearing helmets.
Troopers say Contos hit his brakes and the motorcycle fishtailed. The bike spun out of control, and Contos toppled over the handlebars. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Troopers say Contos would have likely survived if he had been wearing a helmet.

Yeah, I saw that earlier. Maybe it'll change some of his fellow protestor's minds and save their life. *shakes head*

Doubt it honestly... as I was sayin on Facebook, "It's effing ignorant. I look at it like this you're more like to get injured horribly in a motorcycle accident than in a minor car accident so why the hell do we have to wear seat belts and idiot like this can ride around on their bikes in shorts, a tank top and no helmet?"

what is a Darwin award?
Whattttttttttttttttt??? You don't know!?!?!? I'm disappointed in you, PJ!!!

In the spirit of Charles Darwin, the Darwin Awards commemorate individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives. Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species' chances of long-term survival.

I won't take my helmet off when I ride in Kentucky because I do believe they can save your life. Most bikers however seem to believe the helmet isn't gonna make a difference so whenever the law doesn't require it they don't wear it. I never see anyone riding with a helmet on when I'm up there and I just don't get it.

If they fall off their bike and crack their noggin open they'll get it... or maybe not... :ninja

In Germany bikers are often titled as "mobile human spare parts". So many of them drive as if there's nothing to lose; many don't even wear safety clothes, but wear shorts and t-shirts (but a helmet :lol ). *tilt*

That's something I don't get.

You're going to have irresponsible car and motorcycle drivers. However, with a motorcycle, there's no protection except the helmet, so a bad mistake at a high speed can quickly equal death. It makes me cringe.

I think to ride a motorcycle in the first place you need a certain level of fool-hardyness :)
