I finally got a chance to see this movie on Saturday night.....EXCELLENT! It was certainly dark and Heath Ledger...WOW! The only thing bad I can say about it is that I didn't quite like the voice change once "Bruce Wayne" was in his Batman attire. It threw me at first. I mean, I knew why he did it, but it just seemed odd to me, thats all.

The best part for me, was when the Hangman hit the window...I was NOT ready for that and jumped out of my seat...great stuff!

Really good movie, glad I saw it, will likely buy it when it comes out on Blue ray.

Saw it yesterday with my dad since he hadn't seen it yet, and I wanted to see it again obviously.

Even better the second time imo, since now I know the story so I could just pay attention to THE performance.

I so much loved this movie! It's a shame we won't see Heath Ledger as the Joker again.

Actually, Christopher Nolan(Director) stated that they may bring Heath Ledger back(Well, The Joker that is). Not only could they just easily find a look-a-like and edit his voice digitally(They do it with songs/movies all the time. I've heard many words that aren't in the original dialogue, and sound like the actor/actress/singer), but Christopher Nolan stated in an interview that there is a ton of unused footage that they shot with Heath Ledger as The Joker. As long as they don't use it all on The Dark Knight's DVD as deleted scenes, they could just use those scenes to put The Joker in Batman 3.

I don't care how good computer editiing maybe.
It's not possible to film a complete new movie with a dead actor. It's just not.

Fuck it was a struggle in The Crow to finish filming after Brandon Lee died even though they had 99% of the film.

I agree, it won't be the same because heath's heart and soul wouldn't be behind the character.

Uhm, according to Christopher Nolan, it is possible. If they've got a ton of footage we haven't seen yet, they can just stick those scenes in here and there, and work around it with the rest of the live actors.

Not necessarily true. The scenes have already been filmed, therefore his heart and soul would be behind the scenes. They'd just be used in a different movie than intended.

The Joker was a fucking epic role, and if they've got a good way of bringing the character back without using some shitty CGI or whatever, I'm all for it. It's not like I'll be watching the new scenes with The Joker, and be thinking to myself, "Damn. This movie sucks. These are pre-filmed scenes!"

Heath was already dead before The Dark Knight came out, he'd just finished his scenes. It'll be the same case in the next movie. He's still going to be dead, he'd just already filmed the scenes.

Hey, if Tupac could keep releasing records after he was dead(Hell, there are two movies coming out with him in it soon!), why can't Heath be in Batman 3 after his death?! :cool

I didn't read the whole thread so are you saying there are already joker scene filmed but not used? And they might use them in a 3rd film?

I can't find the exact article, but I read in an interview that Christopher Nolan shot a lot more footage with The Joker for The Dark Knight, and most of it didn't make it(Although we see a lot of him in The Dark Knight, we don't see very much in all actuality). Therefore, Nolan said that for B3, if they bring back The Joker(Which is obvious, considering the ending, and his fate), they could always incorporate that footage into the new movie(As long as they aren't put on the DVD as deleted scenes).

The new actor idea was just my idea.

Well in that case, go for it! :)

Don't over estimate the power of current technology, you can't just magic a dead actor into a new movie because you've got some old footage. And, even if you could, the director is then chained and bound to making the movie fit around the limited footage of said dead actor, and as a result the movie will suffer.

The only way forward for the joker character is to find someone else to play him, or let him disappear.

Shit, people, Heath was good in that movie, but I'm sure there's at least one person in the wide world who can do a better job than he did. Of course, due to the media hype over The Dark Knight, it'll be a hard act to follow, but things will get better.
