I watched 20 mins in, but I hated it.

To be fair though, it was a pretty low quality version, and that had a lot to do with it.

The Road, is a much better post apocolpytic movie released around the same time.

Mine was alright quality, might watch the road too, looks quite alright.

The impression I got of Book of Eli was it was a little smarter than your typical Hollywood apocolypse drama, but not as fun to watch as, say, something like I Am Legend.

The Road was a pretty faithful telling of what is, in my opinion, the best book since the turn of the century. It's a movie about humanity chiefly- and it's pretty moving. Although near the end I found it a little rushed, and the Deux Ex machina at the end is even more pronounced than in the book.

I wanted to go see it today, but I got a little busy. May go tomorrow. .I love post apocalyptic movies. .And that's one I've been looking forward to for awhile.

I kind of forgot what you guys said and went and saw it today.

I didn't know anything about it, I just thought it was a heavy action movie and I needed to get away from my world today, so I went and saw this by myself.

I didn't know Denzel was in it!!!! lol. I didn't know what it was about either. In the first scene I was like "If the whole movie is going to be like this then I made the wrong decision..." but then it was different and I liked it.

I guess movies these days are kind of better if you don't go in expecting anything. I thought it was good and I like that girl Solara. I have always thought she was pretty, but maybe not the best actress.

I really like the "meaning" and the epic nature of the story, but i don't think they carried it out very well. It's like they couldn't decide if it was Canticle for Leibowitz or Waterworld.

Your comments are pretty much right on, IMO. Altho, I think I disliked the Book of Eli a bit more than you did.

And, altho, my take on The Road is similar to yours, I'd add the focus of the film and book was the love and devotion between a father and his son. Of course, I'm biased being a Cormac McCarthy devoted fan.

I thought the plot was a little silly but overall I liked the movie. Probably not something I would want to pay to see in a theater. But I watched it at home and enjoyed it.
