The after life

It's an interesting idea :) I guess it's meant to promote... sympathy for our fellow man?

I wish we had any way of knowing what really happens when you die. I find it difficult to believe that anything other than a complete cessation of activity occurs, but I'd like to think that something does.

Factually speaking a complete cessation of activity does occur, based on facts as we know them. Now what are the odds that we know all of the facts? ;)

I am sure there is someone working on this, I bet the richest people in all the world are curious (because then they can keep their fortunes and could afford such novelties)), but this begs the question: are you willing to allow someone to kill you in order to find out and then be brought back? the problem I foresee is that once you are gone, you are gone and nothing will bring you back. those people who "died" on the Emergency room floor, have this common theme of seeing a light and they see themselves on the table. You have to wonder if they were in a dream state or was it real. and if they did come back how come they (scientists, etc) don't do studies on that?
Ever see the movie Contact? albeit its about other life in space, but it gives the same premise.

Just in case there isn't life after death. I'm going make sure I make life one hell of a rid and skid into my grave head first. The last thing I want going through my head is, that was fun let's do it again! So I hope there is such thing as reincarnation.
Btw I didn't read the link I just commented based on the topic name lol.

I think the whole seeing the light thing, is down to your brain starting to shut down though

Yeah, that's basically it. I read an explanation of it once but can't remember. The tunnel of light is an effect that occurs when your retina is running low on oxygen or something like that. The relatives awaiting you at the end of the tunnel are imaginary. The way you can tell is sometimes they aren't dead yet... kind of blows the idea of them being in the afterlife.
