Trying to find "free" payphones to ring "boyfriends"
No helmets, knee pads or elbow pads riding my skateboard...(or bike for that matter)

Being out of the house from sunrise to sunset in the summer. No cell phones, no computers and no way for mom and dad to get a hold of us. Just a check in when we were hungry.

When I was little that was pretty much true. When we moved to the farm the greatest part of the time my Mom knew where I was because I was working.

On weekends my buddies and I would walk for miles rounding up guys to play football. This was after practicing football all week in middle school and playing the weekly game. You can hardly get kids out of the house for a walk theses days. In elementary school, most of us rode our bicycles to school daily. In spring time, we'd get to school an hour early to play baseball before class. Almost continual activity.

Air conditioning and computers are the ball and chain that seem to be keeping us indoors now days.

I grew up in the 70's. Walking to 7-11 with a note to buy ciggs for my buddy's mom. My 11 year old daughter doesn't understand why we wont let her walk around the block by herself. And we live in a pretty safe area.

Different time calls for overt hypocrisy....
