Well, for me it'll be a day to be with family... until about 4:30 when I have to leave to work the peak sales hours at my store. Not looking forward to it.
If you believe in the American Constitution, you would probably defend the 'freedom' to do whatever you like on any given day of the year. Personally, I think that expecting people to spend time with their family discriminates against those who have no family, or have family that they've no earthly wish to be with.
How is that discrimination?
Thanksgiving is a day to get together and feast...family or friends...Its a tradition we have.
You have a very large interest in American culture ...Have you thought about spending some time in the US ?..you might actually like it.
I promise you wont be a victim of a random shooting...but cant promise you wont get frisked for no reason if you are in New york.
They don't celebrate it in the UK, shame really, could do with another turkey meal. For Americans i guess it is like having 2 Christmas's per year (but with different meanings of course).
