I know this is kind of early, but I have a HUGE favor to ask y'all.

My grandmother died a little over a month ago, and I only live three hours from my grandfather. I go to the same college he did and I really want to have him come spend Thanksgiving with me since I'm not going home. Also, our biggest rivalry game is the day after and my boyfriend is leaving so I want to give my grandfather his student ticket. I think he'd really like that.

I don't want to do the full spread- turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls, green beans, cranberry sauce, etc since it's just the two of us. I need help coming up with an idea that will be scaled down for two people, but still (a little) traditional and still special.

Any ideas? Post recipes or links if you have them!

I can't ever remember doing Thanksgiving with them where my mom didn't cook a ton of food. I'm also scared to do something that will remind him of her.

I don't wanna do turkey. I really don't know him that well. I didn't get that opportunity growing up (military family) and I really messed up the last three years by not going to visit her when I had the chance. I forgot her birthday and everything this year.

Sounds like food really isnt the issue here then, just be yourself and do and say whats on your mind. Your love will shine through and be the most important thing.

Because of my families fundamental religion, I never did Christmas up till a few years ago and didn't have a clue how to do it. I just did what I felt comfortaable with and still do and it ok every time. People forget the real meaning of holidays a lot and reminding them of it is the best way to go.;) Glad to be of help!;)

I think your menu looks fabulous! If you wanted to stay with something semi traditional looking, you could always go with cornish game hens. One each...they are the perfect serving size and easy to prepare. :)

But it sounds like you're going to give him something really special for Thanksgiving and really as Peter said, that's what it's all about!
