So, I guess i will be spending Thanksgiving w/ just my family. Dh was kind of sad that his parents didn't want to have it w/us this year. So I was thinking of doing something different for sides just for him. I am a non-veggie eater so I lack in creativity in that department.

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving sides?

 You are gonna be here by Thanksgiving, right? I don't need turkey, just the sides :D

Sweet taters & marshmallows - sometimes whipped, sometimes chunked, depends on my mood too.

I love to make gravy! I could eat that for a meal I swear.

I've just been attempting it this year.... I finally got up the nerve. I've been getting Purdue whole roaster chickens and have been experimenting w/making gravy. I was too intimidated before. I've been doing either flour or corn flour... I think I like flour better. So far they've been pretty good.....

I'll still be buying some jars in case I screw it up on the BigDay! :24:

Good idea. I make good gravy the key is making a rue first, then add plenty of turkey drippings.

I'm not sure why I was so intimidated before...... Perhaps the memories of the females of my family complaining around the Holidays? ;)

It is simple... Plus, after years of watching cooking shows it just seemed too easy to be afraid of any longer.... I ain't no wuss darnit!

Mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, sweet potato souffle, cornbread, cranberry sauce, stuffing... I'm missing something but can't think what.

My grandmother has a fantastic bread recipe that she only makes for Thanksgiving. I might try it this year. I have had it in forever.

Oh! My mom did something new last year... it was sweet potatoes, onion and maybe zucchini? Can't find a recipe online.

Nanny makes an awesome squash casserole which would be great for Thanksgiving.

I'm probably the oddball thats not too big on gravy... unless it's country gravy on a chicken fried steak. ;) or KFC whipped taters.
