I don't mind helping a country that definitively wants our help, but Iraq makes it clear everyday with the hundreds of US soldiers they kill that they don't want us there! And I'm sick and tired of going to my friends funerals that have been killed over there!

It's much more complex than that. Basically, Sunnis & Shiites are like the North & South in the American Civil War. They hate each other all sorts of reasons, and one wants to take over Iraq to push the other out. The US is trying to get a secular government in place. I don't ever see it happening, and I think they are foolish for wasting so many US soldiers on another countries freedom when it'll never happen. The Sunnis and Shiites need to bang it out on their own, just like the US did. After then they can create their democratic utopia.

I oversimplified it, but you're right, the US is over there trying to force a democratic government down the throats of a country that it will never happen in! If it hasn't taken drastic steps to happen yet, it's not going to. It's a hopeless fight, and it's time we get out.
