Teenagers banned from tanning beds

Interesting article from AOL. And to this, I say it's about fucking time!

"Teenagers should be barred from tanning salons to help prevent them from getting skin cancer, the American Academy of Pediatrics says.

The country's largest group of pediatric doctors warned today that spending time in the tanning salon greatly increases the chances of getting melanoma, the most aggressive and deadly type of skin cancer. According to the group, melanoma is the second leading type of cancer among women in their 20s.

The new policy makes the American Academy of Pediatrics the latest medical group to campaign for increased regulation of tanning salons. In 2009, the World Health Organization classified tanning as a carcinogen and has also lobbied to bar teens from the popular practice. The American Medical Association and the American Academy of Dermatology support a ban as well."

Where does it say its banned? they're trying to get it banned. In which I say. Good for them. I think tanning salons should be banned for everyone. Go get skin cancer the natural way if you want it LOL.

i want to say it already is here in Texas. you must have a dr's note for under 18. but dont quote me....im not 100% sure. it still might be in the "trying to get it banned" stage

im whole heartedly against tanning beds. disgustingly nasty....people lay in there naked and sweat for petes sake!, waste of money....hello! last i checked sitting outside in the sun was free!!, and they're WORSE than the actual sun itself. not to mention they do look fake (i wonder why....oh cause THEY ARE FAK!)

There was a girl at college who was 19 and a mum, had a sun bed addiction and had been since her early teens (she even used it whilst preggers).

She looked like a fucking mess; her skin looked so old, wrinkly and like leathery. And the sad thing is, she didn't even care if she got skin cancer. In her own words "well, I haven't yet so obviousally, I'm immune to cancer".

I just don't understand why people do it to themselves. Why is being a bit pale anything to ashamed of? I'd rather be pale than dying of skin cancer at an early age.

Why on Earth would a doctor need to prescribe a frigging tanning bed? To give an albino some hue?
