Hank Williams Jr did a remote interview and gave his thoughts of the current Presidential Administration :thumbup
As as result Espn pulled the football theme {intro}song

Isnt this going to far?
One basically cant say anything without backlash ..Everything has to be politically correct.
Should political beliefs also be under protection?
His statements werent racial, prejudiced etc that one usually has to tip toe with.
Was he supposed to lie about his opinion rather than state his actual opinion?

i do not agree with them removing his song from monday night football. even as as superstar he is allowed to voice his opinion regardless if it is postive or negative

Only on FOX. Ole Hank doesn't help the image many people have of conservatives as knuckle-dragging-mouth-breathing Neanderthal's. And, as conservatives love to point out - ESPN is a private business - if HWJ doesn't portray the image they are looking for, out he goes. Kind of like Tiger Woods messed up his image with his sponsors.

He has freedom of speech, but comparing Obama to Hitler is a bit extreme. Just my opinion though.

I fully agree

Most businesses are private..would a person expect the same if the business was a machine shop or a fast food restaurant?
IMO since his statements werent related to football in an effort to destroy a business they shouldnt be under scrutiny .
In other words he wasnt causing any disharmony within the football or sports industry itself

so they never compared bush to anyone or talked about how horrible he was or that he was a murderer? the negative name calling has gone both ways, however it seems we are trying to be to PC when it comes to name calling with obama

ESPN just wanted to avoid conflict. Corporations avoided Kanye West when he ran his mouth...you just become a liability.

If you caused paying customers to walk out because you were irresponsibly exercising your free speech, the boss would likely fire you.

IMO since his statements werent related to football in an effort to destroy a business they shouldnt be under scrutiny .
Like Panecea said, he's now a liability to ESPN.

In other words he wasnt causing any disharmony within the football or sports industry itself

Neither was Tiger Woods, but his sponsors chose to no longer remain associated and pulled their endorsements because of his behavior.

He mentioned two names & didn't indicate which of the two applied to which of the four golfers. Boehner is the German of the group, y'know, and both Hitler and Netanyahu are accused of genocide or genocidal tendencies.

Why do people even bring up freedom of speech in these debates? Don't you guys even understand what freedom of speech means?
His employer or anyone using his image or song can take any action they want against him to protect their image. Freedom of speech doesn't even come into play.
A violation of freedom of speech can ONLY be violated by government. There is no such thing as freedom of speech when it comes to private business. If my employer wants to fire anyone that talks in pig latin, they can.

Now if he was arrested for what he said or the government tried to shut him up, then that would be a violation of his freedom of speech since it was the government doing it.

One has the right to say dumb shit any time they wish...and the boss has the right to fire your dumb ass for saying it.

And no, most people don't understand the intent of the First Amendment

I think its hypocritical. ESPN still allowed Olbermann to be on Football Night in America after comparing Bush to Hitler and calling Republicans Nazis. Whats the difference?

The difference is who said it and who they said it about.

How soon you forget that if anyone talked bad about Bush, they were labeled anti-american terrorists.
