I am intrigued. How do you find reputable people who conduct regressions?

I did it about 20 odd years ago, with the meditation group I was in. You could inquire at a Spiritualist Church I guess. If I recall, it was called the "Christie" method, or something similar...simple and very efffective.

Cammie - Have you ever read any of Sanaya Roman's work?

not that I recall. I started out reading Edgar Cayce and Ruth Montgomery originally. I also read all of Shirley Maclaines books back in the day. :)

Lots of different books who's authors got their info through "channeling" ....Jani King is one of my favourites for "channeled" info

There are just SO MANY out there.....I usually recommend Edgar to start with though.

I'm now working on my second spiritual psychic book called Ghosts Among Us by James Van Praagh. Many similar themes to Sylvia Browne's book. I'll report back when I'm farther into it. :):)

I have that book here. Its OK.

http://www.edgarcaycebooks.org/ These are new releases (I believe) of his books. The one on Karma and reincarnation would be a good start.
Then....later down the track...this book is one of my favourites.

Wander through the "spiritual" section in the library and let your gut pick one for you. Its always worked for me

Thanks!

Since I'm reading a Van Praagh book, for the purpose of discussion, (not to sell a premise) if your interested, take a look at this reading on his Beyond Show.

Beyond Show.

I know there were a lot skeptics and criticism of cold readings. I realize the entire show could be a fraud, but if the audience is not a setup, I see nothing that sounds like 20 questions. Opinions?

I actually went and saw John Edward when he came here a few years back. His readings that night were rather vague...but he was in an auditorium with about 8000 people...I don't see how he could posssibly have "tuned in" to one person. The ones he did read seemed happy though.

I was waiting in the queue to go in....and daydreaming...when clear as a bell, my dad "came through" and in his usual sarcastic/laughing manner, told me there was "no way" he would "come through" and compete with all the other bastards there that day, and that I should know better;)

Very interesting. Would you call yourself psychic?

Do you or anyone have an opinion on Cold Reading Techniques?

For anyone who is interested watch this Cold Reading Technique video, then watch the Beyond clip for a comparison. I see a distinct difference in technique. Van Praagh does not appear to be guessing, but zeros right in on who he says he is talking to. But as I mentioned earlier, it could still be a setup. I'm at home watching this on my TV...

We are all psychic to some degree. Its like anything we do, and takes practice to hone and develop. SOme dont need to practice and develop though because they are naturally gifted. SOme people are born with the talent...others have to develop it and practice a lot more. Then, everyone has different techniques.
I haven't had a cold reading done as far as contacting the other side goes. A friend has though, and was told things that he could not have possibly known. SHE didnt even know until she checked later.
Van Praagh may just be more "skilled" than say John Edward. (for want of a better word)

There is a section in this book where Van Praagh discusses developing this ability but I've not gotten to it yet. I'll let you know what I think. :)

Recently my wife's mother told us a story about when she was in the visiting room at the hospital when her son (my wife's brother) had been in a car accident. He was seriously injured and she was worried. Another women there, walked up to her and told her to ask her daughter (also there, who was psychic) what would happen. The daughter did not give readings for money and in fact kept this secret from most people because once they knew about her, they bugged her for "spiritual" information. This girl who knew nothing about her son's injury, told my wife's Mom, that he would walk again but not normally. She also told her, that her Mom (my wife's grandmother) would call her the next day with a message. My wife's Mom told the girl, that she was wrong, that her Mom never calls her, that she (wife's Mom) always has to call her (wife's Grandmother).

The fact is here are too many of these stories to dismiss as bull **** without some consideration. Apparently I'm willing to consider it more than you are. smile.gif

1. Her son does walk, but not normally, he is in the verge of being wheel chair bound.
2. The next day in the afternoon, my wife's Mom's Mom called her and told her the name of her father, whom up to this point she had kept a secret from the family.
