I feel the same about some parts of Southern California. I dearly miss the warm ocean. Having just left Sydney, your homesickness must be more acute. I ached for my former home for years. At least I get to go back every now and again, which is easier than you visiting Sydney.

No wonder you miss it so badly. From your posts I can see you have a bit of culture shock. Going from the very southern hemisphere to almost the most northern, ouch!

I hope it will subside sooner rather than later.

I hope so too! I feel very out of place here. Soleil's Canadian blood is fine though. She clearly got her Dad's genes. She fits here like she was meant to be here. Tough situation...I belong in Australia and she belongs in Canada. Got to be where she is though.

Ohhhhhhh good! It's good she feels at home there. It would be terrible as a parent to have your child feel awful about the change. That would hurt worse and yes, you have to be where she is.

You have my best wishes sophie! :)

The Como Hilton....my "home" pub. It was a german embassy in the 1800's and burnt down a few years ago.
They rebuilt it as faithfully to the original as they could. It was a heritage listed building.
You can sit on the verandah and watch the footy game across the road.

The railway bridge over the river. I used to put pennies on the track then wait for the train to squash them.

You have the mountains and the sea.

here in Coffs, the mountains are closer to the seaside than anywhere else in Australia.

I love mountains & coast together.

Tho, Floriduh has nothing that could be classified as a mountain - sadly.... We do have a spine down the middle of some of the state. It can be a whole 400ft above sea level in places. You almost have to pop your ears ;)

The view from Dorrigo mountain, only an hour drive from the coast. I have played soccer up there and the temp. is at least 6 degrees lower than here on the coast.
