Part voluntary and part nothing else to do because I don't have cable or internet at home, I've been trying to read all these "Classics" I bought and never read.
They've just been sitting on my shelf reminding me of yet another ambition I let fall to the wayside.
However, this summer I've been reading them.
I just finished The Education of Little Tree. It was kind of dull, but towards the end I got used to the vernacular and characters enough to laugh and cry.
I've read all the Jane Austen I can get my hands on except Persuasion - I just can't get through it. I've also read all the Bronte's. I've read some Dickens and even some Shakespeare. I've attempted Anna Karenina like fifty times, and I just can't do it - especially since some one told me how it ends.
My past "Classic" favorites are The Count of Monte Cristo and any Dumas.
Have you guys read any classics lately? If so, did you like them?
Or is there a classic out there you always wanted to read, but never have?
What would you guys consider "Classics"?
