Y'all are a bunch of crazies!!!!

I'm pretty sure I've only felt temps near 10F which is like -12C ONCE in my entire life, if that. Crazy people!!

Although, it's 56F (about 13C) right now and I'm freezing my heiny off.

13C is what the water temp was when we took Liam swimming for the first time back east.

Google is getting a good workout while I try to convert temps. LOL

But yes, that I could handle, and with a smile on my face.

I have a converter bookmarked..

Anything above 20C(69F) and I am too hot... I like between 15 C (50F) and 18C (65) would be ideal for me...

The bloody wind is howlin' right now. Current speed is 61 k's gustin' to 83. For ya'll Americanskis just multiply by .625 and that will give you Americanski mph. :D

The problem with that is we have numerous 80' to 100' cedar and hemlock trees on our yard and very near... like surrounding our house, and when they fall down they really go boom. The last 80'er missed our house by a few feet. That was three years ago right around this time of November. The base of it's trunk was at least 3 1/2 - 4 ft. across. Oh my... we're in for a rough night.

Oh how I hate thee November... let me count the ways.

No fireplace in this joint and as far as Mrs.Guyzerr.... she hardly ever slows down to the point she'll let me catch her. I gotta time it just right and catch her off her guard. :24: :24: Kinda like a leopard waiting to pounce. :D

It's actually not that common for the temps in either area to go much below -30 very often. That said, it really doesn't matter cuz when it's past -30 it's just to the bone cold. The thing that will make the difference is if it's windy.

The great thing about any of those places up there is if you drive 5 minutes out of town in any direction you're in really wild country. One major downside is the stench from those bloody mills.

yeah the smell was pretty bad if the wind was going the wrong way. It's a shame, the area is rich in natural beauty, and the Alcan plant there kinda ruins it. I remember walking outside one day and there was just this acidic fog everywhere. Nasty.

That didn't happen too often tho.

I remember my first experience there of really cold temperatures. It had been sunny during the day and I'd gone over to a friends with just a big hoodie on. I stayed until dark, where the temperature had dropped to around -15ºC with a wind chill somewhere around -25ºC. Walking back to my apartment, some 10 minutes away, through a very open area of town, I honestly thought I was going to die. The wind was whipping down Mt Elizabeth and tearing through my clothes. I couldn't feel my hands, my ears, nor my feet. It's the only time in my life I was actually really frightened by the weather.

After that experience, I always wrapped up suitably. I used to go out for strolls when the temperatures got really low, and loved it. It was so beautiful there (apart from the downtown area) I just couldn't get enough of the outdoors. British Columbia has got to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet, especially when it's covered in snow. I will return one day :)

It's a mixed blessing though. Without those mills and plants nobody would have a job. Sad to say but many have shut down now. The north is really hurting.

It usually happens during certain conditions with the weather. To add insult to injury most towns up there are built in some sort of valley or between a few mountains so when it does happen the air and smell gets trapped until the wind kicks up. I've seen it last for a week at a time and it's nauseating. The first time we experienced it was within a few days of us moving up there. It happened one January in the middle of the night. We woke up gagging and wondering who's sewer blew up. :24:

That's what it was yesterday evening. I had to run into town and while I was there I gassed up the car. With the cold and wind running at 50 mph I couldn't feel my hands withing the time it took to complete the task. I knew I should have taken my gloves.

We made it through the night without a tree falling on us which is a good thing. It's died down some now but I still see 'em rocking so we're not out of the woods yet.

Hey Ed.. if you ever come back he we gotta meet up over a cup of coffe or something. Just think... we could argue face to face. :D

Saturday evening I left in my truck to pick up my daughter at her boyfriends, he lives in a little town nearby. It started to snow of course as soon as I got on the highway, it was blinding but the roads were ok...however...once I had picked her up and was on the way home, the roads became unbelievably slippery....I slipped a few times and it was scarey. I only had all season tires on my truck at the time but yesterday I had snow tires put on....I adore men, but I'm not a fan of old man winter...lol...ick!!
