Stupid Shit You Got Detention For In School

I got after-school for giving my then-boyfriend a kiss. Just a little peck, at that. We were the only two in detention. The teacher left us alone to get some things done in the work room. To this day, I fail to see the punishment...
i have seen movies based on this scenario, normally the teacher comes back into the room and then.....well you know the rest:ninja

Shame on you! :p

Actually, that's the only tarnish on my school records. Aside from kissing, apparently, I'm very much a rule follower. We weren't supposed to talk in detention and even though the teacher was gone, I wouldn't talk.

Well, I guess aside from boys in general. I was pretty wild, actually. I'd forgotten about that. So I guess I was just lucky.

I had a "Tuesday" detention for forgetting my hat for PE. She marked it down that I forgot my FULL uniform instead of a partial one, and I was on my last strike. Annoyingly enough it was from a casual fill-in teacher, probably knew nothing about the rules. And somehow this whole situation still gets me fired up...
The Tuesdays were the ones where you stayed back after school for an hour.

I got in trouble quite a bit. Only had in school detention one time. Senior year, got in a fight and they put us both in "in school suspension". We had to sit in desks facing each other with the front of our desks touching. It was dumb.

I still owe like 40 hours detention to my high school. I got into into trouble a lot for a lot of different things. From being late to class coming in just after the bell rang to asking my Spanish teacher what "Puta" meant cuz I heard someone who was Puerto Rican call some girl that.

They'd keep giving me detention even for skipping detention. I was always looking for a suspension vacation but my vice principle was onto me.

I remember, waaaaaay back in kindergarten, me and another kid were playing with scissors and I cut the other kid's hand. The teacher simply yanked me out of the room and took me to the principle's office, where the principle proceeded to yell at me--it scared the wits out of me, really, and I saw nothing being done about the fact that the OTHER kid was playing with scissors too. He simply went to the nurse, that's all. To make matters worse, my parents didn't really handle the situation all that well... pretty much they just took away all of my usual privilages for about a week but didn't really help me understand WHY they were doing it. I mean, I was young back then and I was kind of thick; as far as I was concerned, everybody was just being mean all of a sudden.

That's what I think sucks about people and society at large sometimes. They're quick to dish out punishments, but at times they don't really stop to consider whether or not the right message is getting through. Yes, kids need to be taught right from wrong. But some of the methods that teachers (or sometimes parents) try to use... are they really teaching anything? :/ At least in a way that makes SENSE to the kids?
