Strange phobias

I have a strange phobia. Well, I think it is strange anyway.

I don't like air balloons when they are inflating. Or big bouncy castles inflating. Anything in those lines. It scares me. And if they deflate near me, I would probably pass out of shock lol.

What is your phobia?

I have a phobia of lifts (elevators).

Hate going in them, I get panicky and try as much as I can to avoid them.

Sadly, having a toddler, I can't always drag her up long flights of stairs so I have to suck it up and go in them and try to keep my panicking to a minimum.

I have a Phobia of very steep Escalators.

I will use them if I have to but they scare the heck out of me.

I am terrified of escalators and will avoid them at all costs...... I will take stairs, elevator.. or avoid the building all together.

I am terrified of vomit.


Ways it has impacted my life:

• I almost decided to do something other than teach because of it.
• Since I do teach, I have conversations at least once a month or so reminding the kids that if they do feel sick, they need to leave. I also have a plan in place with my principal and teammates in case it does happen on my watch.
• My husband says there are tons of movies he wants to watch with me, but I refuse to watch them if they have throw up in them.
• If it does appear in a movie (which it is in waaaaaay more than you would imagine) I stop watching.
• I worked in a childrens store in the mall as a manager during my college years. I explained to the other managers that if someone did that in the store, I would be the first one out. We had a deal worked out with the kids at the pretzel place right outside the store in the mall that if it occurred when I was the only one working, one of them would clean it up if we gave them an employee discount whenever they came in. Luckily it never came to that.
• I love theme parks, but am incredibly uneasy once I walk in. I do not go around the kiddy rides or any of the crazy roller coaster out of pure fear of vomit.
• If I do see it, I replay it over and over and over in my head making me feel sick, lightheaded, and sweaty
• It is one of the reasons I have decided having children is not for me. I don't think I could handle it.

So yeah...it isn't just one of those situations where I just don't like it. It scares me to death.

I have a phobia of vomit too. Mostly my own vomit. I don't like seeing or smelling vomit cos it makes me feel like vomiting. I'm also scared of butterflies

I must admit, I hate being sick. I panic, and get upset >_>

I know its probably cliche, but I have a phobia of clowns. I hate them. I hated Kiss too.

I also have a phobia of roast beef, as discussed previously.

I really have a phobia of my missus filing her nails, I have to leave the room when she does it, puts my teeth right on edge! :willy_nilly:

I'm with NuckingFuts and Jassilem....the down (very specific) escalator makes me want to die. I just...I'm afraid I will trip on the seams or step too slow or too fast and fall the whole way down. My heart races when I approach one. HATE IT.

The worst weird phobia I have is of veins. As I type this, I am becoming aware of mine and getting ill. Ok I can't talk about it anymore *goes pale*

I have an irrational fear of flying, but not a phobia in the true sense as I still go on planes

Yeah, the same problem I have with the wooden sticks that lollies come on. ewww, I can't put it near my mouth, or hold one. Wouldn't say that was a phobia for me though. Just a cringe jobby lol

Milk. i can cook with it, make chocolate milk (with LOTS of chocolate powder), have it in my coffee, etc. but milk by itself? :willy_nilly::willy_nilly::willy_nilly: it cant touch me! spilled milk makes me gag and freaks me out, the smell and taste of it GAG!! i'll eat cereal but i'll drain the milk out of the spoon before i take a bite


blood and needles together. i have no problems with needles, no problems with blood. but put the two together and :willy_nilly::willy_nilly::willy_nilly: *goes pale* needless to say, i DO NOT give blood. when/if i have to get blood taken, i break out in a cold sweat. cant even watch it being done (on myself or anyone else)
