They really encourage the crowd to get involved. But you have to remember your loose change....they're buskers after all and pass the hat around at the end of each performance.

the Crowley LA festival is nothing compared to the Texas Rice Festival!Us Cajuns like our festivals too.

Most of them are the same trashy little fair with just good food and a dinky parade, but some are gems.
At the Catfish festival, all the contestants for the Ms. Catfish Queen contest have to participate in a fried catfish eating contest with crowns and sashes on with their hands tied behind their back....
crab festival, dogwood festival, River Fest. thats the ones at the top of my head right now. there are a few more but not in the mood to think!
I do know that there is a Testicle Festival somewhere! yes, you read right! LOL but not the testicles you think though!

Here in my area we celebrate The Taste Of Greater Waterville. They close down Maine Street. They have booths for the children and venders from the local restuarants and a street long street dance. The music is left to be desired.
I'm not sure if they still do but all the Sunflower Queen contestants used to participate in a sunflower seed spitting contest.Us Cajuns like our festivals too.

Do you know where Emerald, Australia is? They have a Sunflower festival as well and is considered my hometown's "sister city". Our Sunflower Queens do an exchange. They visit us during our festival and we visit them during theirs. It's kinda cool.

Well Emerald BEACH is right next door....but Emerald is in central Queensland I think.

My little ole town is so small.... we don't have festivals. We go to neighboring towns and invade theirs.
I'm serious.
We do have a couple of cemeteries. You should see how packed they can get when someone dies and they have a graveside service. Can sure cause traffic jams with the gawkers and all. They didn't plan for vehicles when they started those cemeteries. Hardly anywhere to park... 'Cept for the tie up fence posts for the horses.

Gainesboro TN is 20 minutes away and every May they have a Poke Sallet Festival.
We have Crappie Festival.
