I read about the controversy. What you guys think?
No idea what the "controversy" is about, haven't read anything about it.
Big fuss about nothing. As that cartoon points out, if you dont agree with it, just refuse the treatment.
As long as these religious people don't stand in the way of the research...
Stem cell research is not the issue. The issue is stem cells obtained from embryos - embryos that carry DNA that identifies them as human beings - human beings who must die in order for those stem cells to be obtained.
Stem cells can come from anywhere. Only embryonic stem cells necessitate that someone die to get them.

The cartoon would be humorous if there had been any cures or treatments developed from the stem cells in question but that hasn't happened.
True, but they have figured out how to change a skin cell into an embryonic stem cell. That's gotta be cool.
Also true, so why do they need embryonic cells from fetuses? BY the way, I live next door to Human Gnome Sciences (and several others of a similar type), got a lot of Phd's doing DNA/cloning/stem cell research around me. Weird dudes, you should hear the conversations when we have backyard barbecues.
