And yup, I have a 7D and yes, my lens didn't give me enough reach

but then it could be considered a good thing,especially in the second one that the horse has space to run into

so all in all a very good effort,especially seeing as its your first time:clap

I find that the hardest part about action/sports photography is learning to anticipate the shot and getting your timing down. Once you've got that the rest is gravy.
