A I have said, cancer is already something in our body, something we have a genetic possibility to develop. There are some things like alcohol or cigarrets, polution etc... that can help you develop it. Psychological tension or a problem not well resolved is one of them. I have even heard cases in which women who lost their children when they were just a few month old and refused accept that by having another kid to literally replaced the first one, developed cancer. Was it the only reason? is it the only cause? no. Things affect differectly to different people, you don't need to study psychology to know that. But is it a factor? DEF.

Not always. I'll let this answer this for you. ACS :: What Is Cancer?

Most cancers are from outside sources although some are inherited.

Indeed, sorry if I didn't explain myself good. I wanted to say that that is something we always have the possibility of having (that's what I said it was in our body). With genetic I didn't mean that you inherit cancer, but the possibility to develop it, which is different.

Which is still incorrect. You are not pre-disposed to getting lung cancer. If you avoid the things that cause cancer you are not going to get it.

you can't honestly believe that every person that has not smoked, been exposed to radiation, eaten a healthy diet, and hasn't contracted some sort of virus doesn't get cancer. there are just too many cancer cases. there is still plenty we do not know about cancer, and it is likely we are missing one of the causes. i feel your distaste for everyone getting cancer paranoia, but i don't think unrelieved stress is THAT far of a stretch for the causation, probability, or acceleration of cancer. it's worth an investigation.

either way, we can all learn something from that one little cancer rat way back in the OP: we need to express ourselves, and we need ways of dealing with our issues.

Depends on which type of cancer you are talking about.

cancer in general. "if you avoid things that cause cancer, you won't get cancer" means we have to know everything that causes cancer, and i'm sure there are plenty of cases that cancer just arises where there was some sort of unknown cause for cancer. we don't know everything (yet).
