When I was a youngster I also had alot of interest..I still do to an extent..I guess however what had my curiosity as a child will not be revealed in my lifetime.
Whats out there.
And how did it get there.
Where is other life.
Does other life know we are here.
Can that be a threat

I watched a show that promoted the "theory" that civilizations if they exist are so spread out, it is unlikely their primary purpose would be hostility. To me, if they exist, that is an unknown. You know the two popular scenarios are good willed ETs and the bad opposite is War of the Worlds.

Or anything alive could be a threat to them later..so kill now..we just never know.
Is our planet useful to them?
Would it make a good "space station" while they further explore the universe?
Ahhhh finally another civilization ...lets be friends

We just never know...I would be cautious myself in the event it occurred.
Nuke em...a touch down could bring what is to them a common cold/ a killer for us without cure.
I do hope they have satellites for such,,,but then again they may be of no use due to shielding or avoidance equipment

This has been my primary complaint of stories like Prometheus, ignoring quarantine standards (not the first time in an Alien story) and Battlestar Galactica where the issue is not even mentioned. :)

Tis a wonderful and awe-inspiring thing, the Universe. I too can't help but feel that the chances of our planet being the only planet in this entire universe to sustain intelligent life seems rather unlikely.

Wouldn't it be absolutely amazing to come into communication with other intelligent life? Share sociological, philosophical, political, religious, etc., differences?

Of course, this is why I always was somewhat of a trekkie ... hehe.

We have good and bad people. The thought of bad technical superior aliens might concern me if I thought about it enough. Maybe it would be better to just talk to them on the the long range tuner...

True ... I hope that isn't the case though. A rather bleak thought ...

Me too. I think most of us want to have our lives mean something. If you live your life for an average 75 years, raise a family, learn some lessons along the way, and then when you and your loved ones die, it's all over, oblivion... what's the point? We want there to be a point. We want it to mean something.
