Got to love this article now! :24::owned:

Australia went walkabout at the start of the Ashes. They found themselves in Perth right at the same time England went missing.

1. England underestimated the willingness of an Australia sportsman to fight. The Poms finished the Brisbane Test charging like the cavalry, dominated in Adelaide, had a good start in Perth - and then made the grave mistake of penning their victory speeches. WAGs turned up, telling them how wonderful they were. They turned to mush. Australia got down and dirty. England had their heads in the clouds. They lost the chance to win the urn in Perth and blew it. Momentum is gone and they cannot get it back. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.

2. England's players bark bigger than they bite. They came here with an intent to sledge. After copping it for years, they thought this trip was the chance to give it back. A word to the wise, Kevin Pietersen and James Anderson might be advised to shut up. Australia athletes are sledged from the day they're born. They thrive on it. They want it. Pietersen and Anderson have stirred the beast.

3. Graham Gooch! Any danger of him sticking around for a few more weeks? Let's just get this straight. He's England's batting coach - for three Tests. Did some sort of administrative bungle within the ECB keep him in the dark about this being a five-Test series? England's batsmen need coaching like they've never needed it before.
4. Ricky Ponting. The more this series turns into a scrap, the more he's in his element. He turned the Perth Test into a dogfight. He demanded aggro and fight and got it. His work behind the scenes was crucial. He wanted Australia to get out and snarl and behave like real Australia cricketers.
5. Justin Langer. While Gooch is singing Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Australia's batting coach is ensconced with his side. There is no accounting for the value of this man on staff. He's all over the technical stuff but there's also no better motivator of men anywhere in world cricket. He is instilling self-belief in the younger players and reminding the veterans of their value.

6. The animosity. Australia's players started the series thinking the England players were a decent bunch of blokes. Opinions have changed. Pietersen is just a pain in the neck. That simple. Beneath the impressive physical exterior is a pussycat's interior. Australia put heat on him in Perth and he melted on the spot.
7. MCG crowd. It will be a world record on Boxing Day. Ponting's team has proved it deserves the unadulterated support of every single person in the country. England were massacred on Boxing Day during the last Ashes series, overawed and frightened by the sheer volume of Australian support. Australian fans will give it to the English on Sunday.
8. Paul Collingwood. He's become a liability. It used to annoy the hell out of Australia players that someone with as limited ability as Collingwood could be feted as some sort of superstar in the mother land. He's looked nothing better than a journeyman in the first three Tests. England keep picking him when, really, they know they shouldn't. Collingwood versus Mike Hussey in the battle of the No. 5s was always going to be crucial. Just stop the fight now.
9. Steve Finn. If England pick Finn again, Hussey and the rest of the Australia batsmen will belt out Beneath The Southern Cross. Finn has taken wickets but now Australia have taken a good look at him, they're not exactly trembling with fear. He goes for cheap runs, releases pressure. Watch the Australia batsmen when Anderson is taken off and Finn comes on. They instantly get a spring in their step.
10. It's been 82 years since England last won the Ashes without a genuinely outstanding fast bowler. Anderson is good but there is no John Snow, Bob Willis, Frank Tyson or Harold Larwood pushing off the sightscreen. The last five England teams to win here also had a genuine all-rounder. An Ian Botham, Ray Illingworth or Trevor Baily to ease the pressure and fatigue among the frontline quicks. No such luxury here. Collingwood as the all-rounder? Please.
