Q: What causes hiccups and how can I get rid of them?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Hiccups are gulping sounds caused by involuntary spasms of the diaphragm. The diaphragm is the muscle that separates the chest and abdomen and helps with breathing. Hiccups can be triggered if you eat too much or too fast, consume very hot or cold foods and beverages, or drink carbonated beverages. Other causes include cold showers, entering or leaving a hot or cold room, sudden excitement, and stress.
I drank way too much pop today. I had a dr pepper for breakfast, then I got hungry and had a headache, so I got a can of pepsi and a bag of doritos at the store. After that I hiccupped like mad. After it finally went away, I went to lunch and had another dr pepper... Shortly there after, they came back and stayed for an hour.
Just finished another can of DP with my dinner and now I'm hiccuping again. damnit.
Note to self: Don't drink two cans of pop before lunch.
