Seems odd that it took that long for the reaction to manifest. I would assume it's normal procedure for you to stay put 10 or 15 minutes after getting a flu shot to see if there is any type of reaction (that's how it's been done everytime I've seen them administered around here, at least). But yeah...allergic reactions are nothing to laugh at, Dana. IJS.

They do the same thing here. It's to ensure you don't have a negative reaction to eggs because that's what is used to manufacture the vaccine. Like you I highly doubt the reaction was due to the flu shot but if Dana want's to buy that story all the power to him.

My Mother & one nephew are allergic to bee stings, one bro-in-law to nuts etc and like Francis little lad if they don't get their shot asap they are gonners. Allergies suck.

It's more than likely simply an irritation from getting the shot, not an actual allergic reaction. Anaphylactic reactions are generally very quick in their onset and very serious things.

That all being said, flu shots work for plenty of people... especially those at high risk to get the flu. My dad gets one every year, since he's a physician and is obviously around sick patients on a regular basis... he's never gotten the flu. My ex-wife got flu shots when we both worked at a medical clinic... ironically enough though, she got the flu the first year and I didn't (I never get the flu shot). I could go on, but there's no real point in doing so. People make decisions on what they feel is best in their given situation Dana, and they are effective for the majority of the population. I choose not to get a flu shot simply because I'm deathly afraid of needles, otherwise I'd probably have it done if just to help mitigate the risk of getting the flu somewhat.

But in typical Dana fashion, you have to act like a complete fucktard about it.

This makes no sense. If you had said she got a flu shot and then got flu I'd understand the irony. But an allergic reaction is just plane unlucky and not a common reaction. I wouldn't go round telling everyone not to eat peanuts because I knew a guy who was allergic. :/
