So wait what? Just from the email u got it sounds like your wife and her friends were planning a party? I see nothing wrong with that unless your wife's friends were talking to other friends about having a party at your place with out you alls permission. Some people use emails the same way as phones. If they're inviting themselves thats wrong...

Women are naturally more social and more plan oriented. I might invite a couple over to watch a sporting event on TV. I would never volunteer someone eles's home.

If I want to have a party, then I would host it at my house...I would never even fathom volunteering someone else's home or inviting myself to their home...and on top of it, have the audacity to say I'd split (she should pick up the tab entirely since it was her idea) the food/drink cost! Some people do have stones!

I gotcha...I read that as "a get together" instead of just "get together." My blow. Even still...yeah, I wouldn't invite myself to someone's house like that...and I sure as hell wouldn't expect you to drop any coin on food/drink!

LOL Well if you're the one with the pool i see no harm. If she showed up with no warning I'd be pissed.

The email was rude because it didn't say "What do you think about?" or "What are your thoughts on us invading your home, making a mess, and using your pool?"

Instead it was "We're doing this and we'll cover half our end. BOOM"

Take this as intended. I'm glad you live far way from me Dana. I would hate for you to plan a pool party at my house and not invite me. Pool upkeep can be a PIA and I don't make the grounds perfect around the pool unless we have a gathering of friends. I consider it bad manners to invite yourself over without being asked or at least talking with me even if you hinted asking in the conversation.

That's the way I read it too. "You clean, cook, prepare and be ready and oh by the way plan on paying half on the food & drink, see you Sunday!"

They should have offered SOME incentive for you, Fred.

"We'll pay for all of the food and help prepare it if you will allow us to use your pool/house."
