So why exactly doesn't Florida's "stand your ground" law apply here?

From what I've read, it took a jury 15 minutes to convict her. That should tell you something if it's true.

Apparently she fired a warning shot and was NOT in imminent fear for her life. Actually, reading a little more, NO ONE was hurt. However, prime example of why IF you have a weapon, if you're going to draw it, you don't draw or shoot for show, you shoot to neutralize the imminent threat because you ARE in fear for your life.

Don't have time to read everything up on this, but apparently there is some mis information about her baby being at the hospital and NOT the home where this took place as well?

Did you do any research yourself on this or are you going off of only what Mrs. Alexander is saying? Just curious.

My parents live near Jacksonville. I'll have to see if they remember anything about the case. I searched on two of the local news sources and they have nothing about this case. I can only seem to find blogs about it.

The article doesnt tell much...as if he attacked her..or made a threatening call first etc.
The way I understand it so far is the husband showed up and she pulled out a firearm and shot the ceiling with children present.
But nothing to show it was justified.

My guess is that Marissa is the same race as her husband.
So no one (meaning all the people concerned about making a major issue about racism) cared.
