Didn't he promise that he, "will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days."

I hardly think that this monstrosity counts as an emergency that an extra five days is going make or break. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised, he broke that promise within what, two weeks of being inaugurated?

Obama broke the aforementioned campaign promise originally about two weeks after his inauguration in order to sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

I thought he got inaugarated a year ago, why are you banging on about something from then, only now?

He made a promise during a campaign. He broke a promise after the campaign.

Politics as usual, definitely not change we can believe in.

Because he just did it again with the Health Care legislation... my comment about his doing it right after he was inaugurated and took office was why I wasn't surprised that he did it now. Why bother keeping a promise after you've broken it, right?

Oh, this is yet another thread about that! How many threads about this do you need exactly?

What could possibly be said in 5 days that hasn't already been beat to death?

It's supposed to be so that the public can catch any last minute dark-of-the-night, behind-closed-doors, secret changes made just before the final vote.

Okay, not really. It was supposed to fool an undecided voter into believing Obama actually wanted the public to catch any last minute dark-of-the-night, behind-closed-doors, secret changes made just before the final vote.

Big difference

So since the house could ONLY pass the senate bill without changing so much as a comma before the president signed it into law, what exactly did we need to look at for 5 days? What dark of the night last minute deals were we looking for? This bill, word for word, comma for comma has been available for public viewing for months. You know, the bill that the republicans kept saying that wasn't available...

nice spin

Obama made no qualifiers. He said any bill sent to him to sign would be aired for 5 days. I guess he just could not wait to rub it in everybodys nose that the narcissist got his way eh??

You don't think the reconciliation was done in the dark of night?

If you can not see how sickening this whole process is I am disappointed. Not surprised though.

The reconciliation isn't even remotely close to going to the president for signing. It needs to be amended by the senate and then go back to the house...

You do know how all this works, right?

the reconciliation was done behind closed doors by the democrats in the house as the selling tool for the main bill.

without the reconciliation there was no way the house was gonna pass the main bill.
