RANT:

yesterday, i relaxed.. got myself back together... and got a call later in the evening... david's grandmother passed away while I was gone in NYC.. ok- so apparently my co-worker worked 4 days straight while I was away, because David's parents were handling arrangements and such in Long Island.... so guess who's working the next 3 days straight.... give up yet?

that's right ME! I havent even told them that my dad's trip got cancelled, so I thankfully have off thurs-sunday again... but geeze
maybe i'm not being sympathetic or something, but i am NOT a babysitter! now, i have to postpone starting with the other little girl (again!) this is not going to make me look all that spectacular in their eyes, and i will be PISSED if they dont want me to work there because of this

i love my job, but i can't stand parents... or my boss... fuckin A

have you talked to your boss about this situation? What does he/she say? And why are they expecting you to babysit? Maybe you could reccommend a babysitter to them that knows how to handle an autistic child...I'm sure it would be beneficial to them because I bet your hourly is much higher than a babysitters!

well, see my boss thinks its more beneficial to have us here to work with him rather than a babysitter... he has a babysitter that they use when they want a night out alone or just time to spend together, and shes really good-- but he doesnt do anything she says and its more like chill time...

no matter how hard i try, i cant get away from this family... i've been with them for 2 years- and somehow at least every other month- i wanna quit... i hate when they do these things, becuase i end up getting mad at david, and its not his fault

babysitters that can handle autistic children are hard to come by.

Im sorry jersey. Maybe the little girls parents will understand the situation. Ive always been pretty understanding.

yeah that still sucks :( are they totally unable to take him with them anywhere? it sounds like they are just using it as an excuse for a 3 day vacation!

Part of my job is teaching them how to handle David. His behavior is really poor with them and exceptional with his therapists, as in most cases, so we teach them how to handle him in public so he doesnt have outbursts and tantrums. They just dont want to have to deal with that last step. It's not they that are bad parents, but they want to believe their son is typical and he's not. Until they learn that he has special needs, they won't get any better at dealing with him.
