The county I live in has banned all fireworks shows this 4th of July due to the dry conditions, and our wild fires we have burning in our state. What sucks it I live about 1/2 a mile from a Mountain that we always have our biggest display. I was looking foward to sitting out front, drinking some beer and watching up close.

Anyone else having thier Fireworks shows cancelled?

Nope. There will still be a big fireworks show downtown and people are still allowed to buy them and shoot them off at their homes. Unfortunately though, I can't talk my husband into going downtown to see them with me. He is not a fan of crowds. Sad day.

Cancelling fireworks on the 4th should be an act of treason. It's not like you will burn down the desert. :24:

Same thing happened when I was in Austin a few years back.
This was the first time in a few years this has happened.

Buying/sellimg of fireworks are banned cause of the dry conditions, burn bans in 180+ counties and wildfires left and righ(i made a thread about it)

BUT that hasnt stopped the displays by 'officials'. Whether its done by people at home or by 'officials', you CANT control fireworks once lit!! To have public displays still with conditions how they are, its a slap in the face to the firefighters!

We don't have any of those restrictions on fireworks shows this year. We had a relatively wet winter, for the first time in God knows how long.

If SD ever had a firework ban, that would mean hell has frozen over.
lol
We've had a blast with fireworks the last two nights and tonight we will just be relaxing watching the ones other people shoot off.

Meet ya there

I can understand telling the public they can't shoot them off but they shouldn't cancel the big shows put on by professionals. Every one I go to is conducted with the fire department on-site beside the shooters to handle any small fire that starts from the falling remains of the shells.

Here ya go people who don't get to enjoy fireworks tonight.
