So my roommate...

Decided to try to start some shit with me tonight.

I came home from work, munched on some food and fell asleep watching tv on my bed at 8ish.

He comes home at night and I hear him go "are you naked?" then just barges in my room to find me asleep. I heard him, but was half out of it.

The background here is that my room has the CA TV jack, but his doesn't so he's had a coax from my room into his room.

Well while he's been out of town I unhooked it and put it into my TV. He apparently bought another coax so we could split it off. Well that's what he wanted to do at nine.

I finally wake up around 11:45 and walk out into the living room. He goes "who's asleep at 9 pm?"

Matt, don't even go there... I doubt you were even up before noon today.

Him: "Well I'd like to have the TV I am paying for."

Well, you have the internet I'm paying for, matt... besides that... you're watching tv right now... in the living room.

Him: "Oh but this month I'm paying for it!"

Dude... one month out of 8 that we've been here? I asked you for the favor and you're throwing that at me? Ok, fine. Stop using the ELECTRICITY that I AM paying for to charge your laptop.

You see, electric is a tad bit more important than the internet.

Him: "Whatever."


Then I just went downstairs to have a cig.

The nerve of him to even TRY to throw my being short this month back in my face so he has to pay a whole 53 dollars more this month!

If my electric is going to be up over 100 bucks a month to keep this place at a decent temp, I don't even want to hear him bitch about paying 116 for the cable. Especially after he blows 300 on a secondary in car XM satellite radio receiver, blowing 2000 on a keyboard, laptop, Nintendo DS Lite, DVDs, CDs, and all this other misc bullshit.

Anyway, Thursday I'm going to go and have a financial checkup and possibly refinance/consolidate a few bills to save some money every month. I really can't wait to be able to afford a house. I'll get a second part time job to afford it if I have to.

awwww I sorry I can understand him being upset if he didnt have the money to cover the extra, especially being december and all and having to buy people presents, but he shouldn't act petty like that. That's total BS. I'd be looking for a new roommate if I were you!

I called him and asked him the other day if he could cover the 53 for the internet for this month, and maybe next month because our electric bill is 100+.

I didn't mind paying the 53 when our electric bill was < 50-80.

I'm taking the bigger burden with this apartment anway, Rent + 53 + Electric. All he has to pay is Rent + 68.

The irony is he makes more money than I do, and has spent 300 on black friday, let alone 400 plus two weeks before that.

It really irks me that he makes more money, spends more money and is more petty.

THEN he never bothers to turn ANYTHING that takes electricity off when he leaves or goes to bed. The Christmas Tree has been on for two days straight...

*sighs* Can't find a new roommate, we're both contractually obligated to this apartment until April 1st.

Hopefully I can get a house by then.

I dont understand how you guys split the bills..? Why not just split them down the middle. A good way to do it is open a bank account just for apartment bills. Both put the same amount in a month to cover rent/bills/ and expenses like shower curtains, tp, dish soap, whatever. When you move out, if there is any extra just split it between you two.

i agree, both parties should pay half, that way everyone is at least partially responsible for everything, and maybe when the money comes out of his pocket for something he will be more liable to turn it off. Bill rationing is never a good way to do things because of problems like this. The best way is to have each of you put a certain amount out after every paycheck, that way it won't be a matter of who has the money and who doesnt when a bill is due.

Because I buy all my own food, all my own bathroom supplies and other necessities. I'm not giong to have a split account where one of us could withdraw something and forget to register it, putting us into the red. I just can't see that working in my mind.

I mean last month before he left for KC again, he forgot to leave me a rent check. When I called him he goes "Can you cover it?"

Hmm... well, only have 480 in my account, and our rent total is 447... so no... I can't.

After that he has the dumbass attack of asking me "when is it due?" ON THE FIRST LIKE IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN DUE!! lol

I just look back at last night and laugh now, cause he's just a goober.

One of my best friends and all, but he's just frustrating sometimes.

I only asked heather and Dianne to cover the Electric and phone. Our house payment is 1200 dollars, and I pay the rest of the bills, so I thought that was fair.

Yeah... wish I could afford a 1 bedroom apartment myself, and he could himself. Then we'd be all set! haha
