I was perusing a few articles and stumbled upon this one:

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...unveils-invisible-art-exhibition-7767057.html

For those that feel the need to not read it here is the gist:
London's Hayward Gallery will gather together 50 "invisible" works by famous artists including Andy Warhol, Yves Klein and Yoko Ono for an upcoming exhibition, thought to be the first of its kind in Britain.

So, I felt I should ask: Can nothing be art? It seems they are trying quite hard to make it so. Is a blank canvas art if someone explains what went into the blank canvas? If the person who constructs the canvas explains the toil and strife in creating it does that then make the canvas itself art?

They are simply trying to profit from one old idea, Hans Christian Andersen's The Emperor's New Clothes fable.

So that if you cannot see the art in those blank canvas you must be dumb or something, it's not me but they who are saying to us we are probably.

Sheesh. I better find nothing fast and sell it to somebody who cares. I don't know what's happening to the world now. I agreed in another thread that porn is art. But an empty canvas? I'd rather stare at a hot model with invisible clothing rather than stare into nothingness in a blank canvas.

I have an empty canvas here in my house... should I sent it there and make some money since it's considered art?
Please.
Nothing is not art, it is just nothing.
Yes, art doesn't necessarily have to be visual [there are personal reasons for an artwork to be considered art and not just the art itself] but it must have something visual in it.

The Emperor's New Clothes is a very good comparison actually! I've never really developed an appreciation for modern art so I guess I'm not qualified to comment. On the other hand I think if you can exhibit a blank canvas and call it art then I guess the sky's the limit!
