so i'm getting a puppy...i have a plan

Basically I'm getting a new puppy hopefully within the next week as my brothers dog is going to give birth.

Coincidentally, my cat is also due kittens next week (her first and last litter)

What I thought I could maybe do was let the puppy suckle my cat and let my cat bring him / her up as a cat. I could then have a dog that could go out on its own without me having to walk him, and would live fairly independent.
