The story is screwed up.

Some kids are doomed from the day they are born due to the families they are born into, and something tells me it was only a matter of time for this girl.

What I find surprising is that the 10 year old made it this far along (assuming the 10 year old is a sibling of the deceased infant). Then again, the 10 year old may be the offspring of the baby-sitter, which would have me ponder more questions.

Sad.

This was on front page of MSN today... They're not releasing how the infant died yet, and the 10yo is the babysitter's child. Apparently the mom and babysitter work together.

Pretty sad that MSN had more info than a local news station...

Chances are everyone is just trying to get their ducks in a row. Manslaughter charge tells you something. Added the fact that it was the babysitter's 10 year old daughter, ANYthing could of happened, be it out of ignorance or just dumb luck. Time will tell, and they will have to release the circumstances (as they see them) sooner or later to the press.

From your link

-------------------------------
The letter said the 10-year-old girl has "attention deficit hyperactivity disorder," ''oppositional defiant disorder" and "attachment disorder."

-------------------------------------

That will pretty much clear the girl.
IMO the neglect needs to go to the sitter as the 10 year obviously couldnt be trusted around the infant.

Charging the 10 year old is a waste of time.....due to her known problems.
The sitter needs to be charged IMO

What a load of nonsense.

A ten year old is a child. Western culture demands that we supervise our children to an age where they are mature enough to make decent decisions.
"attention deficit hyperactivity disorder," ''oppositional defiant disorder" and "attachment disorder."? Seriously? in my day, that was called 'growing up'.

It's tragic that this child has been so badly let down by her parents, but let's keep the blame squarely where it belongs.

I have a feeling you have NO CLUE what some children can go through.

Ever have your dad put a gun to the family pet and tell you that if you said anything he'd kill the pet?

It would be nice if everyone lead a nice life such as yourself so children could have a good upbringing, but at least in the US, that is not always the case.

Also from the link
---------------------------

In a letter obtained Friday by The Associated Press, department caseworker Christopher Filteau wrote the sitter that she made mistakes by leaving the baby in her daughter's bedroom. The caseworker said the 10-year-old has behavior disorders and was not suitable for caring for the infant.

"You neglected to provide the proper level of supervision by allowing Brooklyn to remain in (the girl's) care," the caseworker wrote Aug. 10. "Brooklyn Foss-Greenaway has died as a result of your neglect."

---------------------------------------

IMO there should be an uproar getting the sitter charged

She should have been watching the infant..not the 10 year old

What kind of person pawns off a 3 month old to her 10 year old daughter that has many mental issues?
Even if the child hadnt had issues you still keep the 3 month in your room not the 10 year olds

All lame excuses...
You attempt to debate but...........
You have already expressed you do not choose to debate the matter with your post below...You are merely using the news thread with an attempt to filter what you choose to debate.

I just created a thread for debate regarding the death of the infant...which will not have immunity of selective debate by being placed in the news section{as you have done}

http://www.offtopicz.net/showthread.php?85861-Infant-killed

Why the Hell are you trying to debate this with me? I never said the mother should or shouldn't be held accountable but just as the article says they declined to say who called. Do I 100% believe the person on Facebook? No... I actually don't like the Facebook family member. For all I know the 10 year old could of been left in charge. I was just passing what I heard which is all hearsay. This is the news section NOT the debate section. If you want to debate negligence go do it there.

Coming from the guy who always seems critical of everyone else's child who doesn't have a clue to what he is talking about.

I'm a stupid f***head and the sad part is I probably have more intelligence and common sense than you.

Exactly how many neglected children have you dealt with while living under your mothers roof?

Recently I took a seminar on Reactive Attachment Disorder by a very well spoken man (and had VERY good credentials) and was amazed at what I didn't know. No, I'm not some "let's kill them with kindness because Johnny doesn't know what he's doing" type of guy, but when some children lead fucked up lives, it can affect them later on in life.

I don't recall ever calling you a f...khead. Oh and living in an apartment building owned by my parents has exactly nothing to do with anything. You may have "intelligence" but you act like a damn a-hole...

I admit I know nothing about the complexity of the disorders listed but I just find them excuses just another way of escaping blame.
But I know that not all the blame rests on the child.
The babysitter is more at fault in this scenario; the baby suffocated after inhaling medication.

Which is all debatable ...you have stated you do not choose to debate

Your statement in a prior post below
This is the news section NOT the debate section. If you want to debate negligence go do it there.

Sorry, I forgot....civilians and guns. Tell me again what an excellent idea that is.
