Alright, before we start its me criminal mastermind or CM from before i need some advice. can someone please help me. I grew up on the street's(inner city) of baltimore, i was bullied and picked on as a kid. A few older Cuzz's saw some potential in me. They asked me if i wanted to get down. They told me i would always have a family, a place to go, and no one would ever mess with me again. Being the coward i was at the time i took the offer. I got jumped into the Rollin 30's Crips of Poplar Grove. At the time i was just a skinney 12 year old kid who wouldent stand up for myself. In time i became a gang member. I was bigger, had muscles... i could defend myself. But they were my boy's and i was down for life, i never once thought of leaving the grove or harlem. I dropped out of school to stand on the corner of Poplar and Mculloh Sippin 8 ball and slangin rocc's. Those men were right, there was alot of potential in me....for them that it. I made them alot of money, and made myself alot of money in the same time. i was actually getting used to living life selling drug's. I actually didnt care about my future, i just cared i made over 120$ a day to keep pushing. My life was truly a disaster i just couldent see it yet. I was scared to think ahead, i was too scared to think about the next month..sometimes even the next week. I was a dumbass at the time i just didnt know then.

So after a while i came around 15 and the court order came. My mother won custody of me. I was moved to the suburbs. I originally hated it. But now i have grown to like it, i am re enlisted in school.(Im 17 now). I even take AP classes and stuff. I dont sell drugs anymore i have legit hustle and a real job. Now heres the problem. I had my life set, i knew from the minuite i saw the marine corpse..i wanted to be a member of the USMC. I talked to a recruiter and everything i had taken the ASVAB and the pre-screening. On the prescreening i made an 80/99 and the national average is around 65/99. The recruiters looked at my grades and basicly told me i was very smart, i was just very lazy. and its true. So i set up the meeting with my parents and everything. the contract was written up and everything. My mom works at a bank right, and one of her customers is in the marines he told my mom alot of bad stuff about it. he said it was the biggest mistake of his life. Now you have to remember this is a retard who is in infantry because he got like a 30 on the test. He was telling my mom how they only trained him todo his job and didnt let him goto college. And when they offered him togo to college for free, he said it had been about 4 years so he didnt even want to go anymore. My moms not understanding that his job doesnt need a college education. he is infantry, they only put the idiots there..who can easily be replaced. Im trying to explain to her that i got a very good score and be anything i want to be, and the last thing they should want todo is send me to iraq. My mom doesnt know how much the marines mean to me. I never felt included all my life, i was never included in a team or a family..i just had a crew. I never been included or had the pride of belonging, iev just been a gang member and drugdealer. I always thought that this would make up for all the bad shit i did. When i tell my kids that when i was a kid i was a drug dealer and gang member..i could follow up saying the joined the elite marines fighting force and i became a changed man. my mom went so far as to saying if i enlist when im 17, to NEVER EVER show my face to her again. i just want to be a marine. I dont want to be in any the airforcce because they are pussy's. the army doesnt garuntee you a job. the navy is just plain gay. The coast guard are bigger pussy's then the airforce. I got to be a marine, its what i want todo but some dumbass ruined it for me. My mom wont even listen to me about it anymore. anyone have any advice to get her to turn around.

Do what you gotta do. Your mom fought for custody of you, and now she's going to give up because of something that may help you get into college? Yeah... I don't see that being in the case when you come home 4 years later.

when do you turn 18? I think that it would be the best thing for you to do. You seem so sure about it. If anything, I would keep telling her that you want to do it. Just keep pushing it on her. Once she sees how much your interested in it and it's not just a thing your going through at the moment I'm sure she'll come around :).

I know that a lot of schools have people from the marines come and try to kids like you about joining up. Maybe you should have one of them talk to your mom...or maybe get more information from them to give to her.

Don't give up! And your right, you have to think about your future, and I think this is a good start for you.

Wanting to 'belong' to a group is not a good reason to join the military.

And btw, please do not 'put down' any of our branches of military; to do so is to put down the men and women who serve in those branches and give their lives for our liberty, freedom and way of life.

Yeah well alot of us here feel the need to express ourselves reguardless of the situation and Im only following suit. I knew him as cm and it was just a bunch of lies. What? You want me to give him a shoulder to lean on with his mouth of deceit? You know I feel for people on this forum and have no problem being there for people, but if you are asking me to eat a rotten apple over this post, then I am sorry to dissapoint you.

My mom works at a bank right, and one of her customers is in the marines he told my mom alot of bad stuff about it. he said it was the biggest mistake of his life.
It's just like any job. There's good days and bad days, good bosses and bad bosses, etc...

He was telling my mom how they only trained him todo his job and didnt let him goto college.
The college option is ALWAYS there, even if it's only online classes. I knew a couple people in Iraq taking online classes. BUT, and this is a big but, it's not easy. You'll be working full time and the classes will be in your off time. It's not easy, and it takes a whole lot of hard work and self-discipline to make the time for it.

Im trying to explain to her that i got a very good score and be anything i want to be, and the last thing they should want todo is send me to iraq.
That's by far the biggest misconception you could possibly have. Your job doesn't matter. You think they only send the "dumb" people to Iraq? Somebody has to go over there and keep the computer networks up and the F-18 radars working. Do NOT assume you won't go, cuz I'd say there's a 90% you'll go at least once.

anyone have any advice to get her to turn around.
There's absolutely NO need to enlist now. You'll still have to wait til you graduate to go to boot camp. My advice is just wait til you're 18 and sign yourself up.

Good luck to you, but please give some thought to knockin' off the shit talk about other services, they're fightin' for their lives and serving in their choice of military, at least that's what they thought when they enlisted. :)

The world is a big place, and the Corps will show it to you.

I'm concerned about your grasp on the reality of military service. Lack of respect for other services aside, the Marines are going to teach you how to defeat the enemy, and the current enemy is in Iraq. If you don't want to go, the DON"T sign up.

The Corps is a family. The Corps spirit lives in the infantry. I know many Marines, and I can tell you beyond doubt, that they are not the brain dead zombies you think they are. If you go in with this attitude, I promise, you will be identified in boot camp, and you won't make it through the program.

If you don't die on the Island, you'll be welcomed into one of the greatest, most professional families in the world. It is a great feeling, but it's not a Rocky movie. It takes dedication, sweat, blood, tears, sacrifice.

I think you should ask your recruiter to set you up with a guy at your local base to take you around for the weekend.

Good luck.

Remember: Marine Corps = Infantry

Great point. Ever heard the phrase "Every Marine a rifleman"?

I had one of the "smart jobs". That sure as hell didn't stop me from standing guard at the north gate to Camp Fallujah for 2.5 months. Spending 9 hours of every day looking out for IED planters/wondering if the next vehicle that drives up is a car bomb/searching the vehicle that may be a car bomb/taking cover from incoming mortars/dodging random sniper fire/and of course you'll never know for sure if you got the one Iraqi Army soldier at your post who decides he wants to be a terrorist. And then getting up the next day to do it all over again.

Your MOS doesn't matter, you'd be a Marine first and foremost, and Marines fight when it's called for. Plain and simple. Do NOT disillusion yourself.

he's asking for help...it doesn't seem very nice if your not going to offer any to leave such comments
just ignore boomer, all i got to say to him is..Dont hate me cause you aint me.

And also, i did have some recruiters come to my house. They told my mom that the frontline fighters arent exactly the brightest ones in the marines. They said i would be perfect for a programming job because i know C++ and Visual Basic. My mom just hate sit after that asshole at the bank told her the bad shit. I dont want to be in the navy, airforce, army...or worst of all....coast guard. I want to be in the elite, the marines. I fit all the hpisical and mental capabilities. I didnt smoke weed for a month, and detoxed my system for the drug test, i passed the phisical and ill be damned if i dont get in. Im going no matter what my mom say's, thought i would like her to agree with the idea. My dad thinks its cool, but i dont give a fucc what my dad think's.

I know bootcamp will be veyr hard, but i have gone through very tough times. But theres one thing that took me about the marines. The fact that when your struggling the other marines will cheer you on and keep you motivated to keep going. All my life i had people tell me i was just gonna grow up to be a criminal and end up dead or in jail. The biggest of whome was my 9th grade english teacher. Im just dying to wlak into her classroom in a marines uniform and say "How you like me now bitch!". Its just something im set on.

BTW have to enlist now, because the firts senior of each class to enlist gets credit for all the others of the same school who enlist. So for every 2 that enlist from my school automatic promotion. And my boy was gonna go in with me because they have this shit called the buddy system or buddy program so if u enlist with someone you will be stationed together.
