Wow. This poll was on my local news station's website today.

Is the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy still properly appreciated in 2013?

  • 65.1% - It's overappreciated
  • 19.8% - It's underappreciated
  • 15% - About right

Really??? 65% think it's OVERappreciated??? Man...I thought we had made progress. *smh*

My problem is so much of his message has been bastardized by those who are the most racist and call themselves Reverends.

I knew an African American who didn't even think MLK was all that. I'm pretty sure there are folks that don't even realize it's Martin Luther King Day... As was witnessed by me when some guy tried to go to the bank today and use the drive thru as I was walking by only to discover... DUUUHHH it's MLK Day and the banks or state aren't operating.

I agree w/ that.

Some people forget during the course of the day. Just like I forgot to remind my shift last Thursday that they could wear their polos today. And I kept telling myself to get up early to go to the bank and then realizing, yet again, that it's a holiday.

Even more reason to celebrate the man and his vision

If you consider that the majority of those that might of voted in the poll might have been youngsters that have free phones and nothing but time to waste, I dont think that is an accurate poll of those that remember actually remember what the man stood for. At least thats what I would hope is true in this case.

I'm hoping the same. Or that there's like 5 votes and 3 of them are from some backwoods racist family, LOL
