I hate them!!

when i got my bunny i wanted to keep her on the same food as the breader was using. problem is this food only comes in big 30 kilo bags! so ive been keeping it in the shed out of the way. i opened the bag this evening and there must have been about 10 slugs in there! i nearly died! i hate the things!! how do i stop them sliming all over the rabbit food? am i going to have to draw a circle of salt round it? :( its horrible. we had to cut the top part od the bag off to get rid of most of them and then scoop out the top layers of food to get rid of the slime.

Put salt on them and they disolve
They don't disolve. They just shrivel up and die.

Put your bunny food in a plastic garbage type container with a snap lid of some sort. That will keep the slugs and rain out.

We have slugs by the gazillions around here as well. Slimy buggers. I hate 'em.

we do have slugs, but only in certain areas

As Louisiana doesn't have them EVERYWHERE, I can't tell you how to get rid of them.

I will say that they used to get in my dog's food container outside - it was plastic Rubbermaid container with a snap on lid. They would shrivel up and slime all over my dog's salty food....GROSS!

Copper. Snails and slugs will not craw across copper. The slime they use to crawl across the ground will create a small electric charge when they try to cross the copper. It will cause them to turn around and go the other way.

Gardeners who have raised garden beds will line the top board with copper flashing (top 4" or so) and it will keep their gardens slug/snail free.

Hmm copper? Interesting. I may have to transfer it into a plastic clippy box. Just don't want to have to peal the little soda off that too. Eurgh!!
