Anyone got any ideas what to put in one.... Its a piece of the kitchen I never use because apart from a stew, I never know what to cook in one, and stew isn't right in summer :p

We put a beef roast in, with carrots, onions, potatoes.
Also do pulled beef or pork. Cook the meat on low over night. Make a bar-B-Que sauce up, pull the meat apart, mix the sauce in and let it cook on high for a while, til heated through.

I bet if you looked Crock Pot or slow cooker up, you'd find all sorts of ideas.

A couple of my favorites.

I put a sliced onion on the bottom.
Followed by a beef roast spiced to choices(ie..garlic, onion powder, worstershire sauce etc,)
cover with 2 cans of golden mushroom soup.
cook for 8 hours on low.
Upon removing the roast add (water & disolved flour) to make gravy.
serve with mashed potatoes, or rice and biscuits.

Another:

A pork roast with spices
surround on all sides with saurkraut
add worstershire about a tbsp.
cover with beef boullion and cook on low about 8 hours.
I like it with mashed potatoes.

This is one of my faves:

White Chicken Chilli

1 1/4 lbs boneless skinless chicken
2 (15 ounce) cans great northern beans or 2 (15 ounce) cans navy beans
1 (15 ounce) can hominy or 1 (15 ounce) can white corn
1 (1 1/4 ounce) envelope taco seasoning
1 (4 1/2 ounce) can of chopped green chilies
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
1/2 cup sour cream
chopped green onion (optional)
monterey jack cheese (optional)
Directions:

1
Place chicken in a 4 quart slow cooker.
2
Top with beans and corn.
3
In a medium bowl, combine taco seasoning, chiles, condensed soup, and chicken broth. Pour over top of ingredients in the crock pot.
4
Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
5
Before serving, stir gently to break up chicken, then stir in the sour cream.
6
Serve topped with green onions and jack cheese, if desired.

Shut it you. I am not obsessed. I just want one.

You can do a lot with a slow cooker. Curries, roast meat, kebabs, stuffed pork belly (I really want to try that one, I have it in a recipe book and it looks divine), jam, bolognese sauce, soups and I have a recipe for lasagne cooked in a slow cooker (not using fresh pasta either but I thought I'd like to tweak the recipe for that one as it was more a vegetable and ham lasagne).

There are lots of recipes online too http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipes/slow-cooker-recipes.aspx

I've made both beef roast and a whole chicken in. Both come out so tender and moist.:thumbup

Funny that you posted this! I have some corn chowder in the slow cooker right now. A couple of potatoes, some onions, couple cans of corn (or frozen if you have) some cooked bacon, milk, chicken stock and a tbsp of flour! Comes out great!

If you're not a huge soup fan, you can try a simple chilli:D
