I think most servers use linux based server operating system (quite different from ordinary OS), so I wouldn't be overall worried

Seriously dude? If you don't actually know what you're talking about, please refrain from acting as though you do. This is in reference to this comment as well as the MSSQL one.

And why don't you quit it, ok? I don't want you posting here until you can add something useful

Quit what, exactly? You've made two misleading and ignorant comments thus far. I'm simply pointing it out and saying that you should refrain from doing so. That seems to be plenty, "useful".

If you'd like another "useful" statement: You should probably educate yourself on what you're talking about, lest you talk out of your ass like you're doing.

I'm sorry that you've taken issue with someone disagreeing with you and pointing out where you're incorrect. Not much I can really do about that though. *shrug*

o_O

Did you just say that I'm on drugs? :24: With the way my head hurts at the moment, I wish that I some vicodin right now, but alas, no such luck. It's a pretty weak argument to simply attempt to levy an unfounded pathetic attempt at an ad hominem on someone because you can't invalidate their point.

You're making my afternoon, please... continue. :24:

Being non- knowledgeable when it come to tech stuffs....IDK :dunno what implicatons it has. Just a question out of curiosity. Nothing to hide they can search me :24: :24: But respect for privacy matters BIG time to me :ninja

This is the internet, PurpleDove. Expect your privacy to be invaded even if it is not by certain individuals. Privacy Invasion(s) come with the turf in a sense.

It is very simple, if there's anything you don't want getting out DO NOT PUT IT ON THE INTERNET.

BTW

Security: Also tough to call

Both products have perfectly acceptable default security mechanisms, as long as you follow the manufacturer's directions and keep up with your security patches. Both products operate over well-known default IP ports, and, unfortunately, those ports draw intruders like flies to honey. My firewall logs are always chock-full of folks trying to contact nonexistent database instances on my machine over the default ports. Fortunately, both SQL Server and MySQL allow you to change that port should the default become too popular a destination for your taste.

But hey, thanks for playing anyway. Remember kids, trust the actual professionals... not the people with a little bit of computer knowledge that think they know everything because they heard from someone who read some obscure webpage somewhere. For what it's worth, TechRepublic is one of the most respected industry websites around. I've had a membership with them for a long time now, and it's an invaluable resource for stuff like this. Just in case *someone* tries to question its credibility.
